She rolled her eyes, a strange sound leaving her mouth as she dodged her sister’s foot. ❝Woah, dude, careful! I have hot liquid in my hands, you bitch!❞ She warned, setting down the cup of soup she’d made.  ❝Okay, it’s not my fault that one, you decided to actually do it, of your own volition, and two, that Rusty loves you so much. Perhaps a little too much, and the neighbors are irresponsible as hell with their animals.❞ She sat herself on the edge of the bed, a bit of mock pity crossing her face. ❝Anyway, if you’ll stop being a little pissbaby, you’ll notice that I’ve brought you soup and saved your life. You’re welcome.❞ 

        ❛  no,  but  there  probably  is  something  out  there.   ❜  ruby’s unenthusiastic tone is a bit jarring, even to herself as she realizes how cold that might’ve seemed. neutrality wasn’t a common calling card unless it involved her background but here she is letting her true form of disinterest fly in the open.  ❛  i  mean,  it’s  the  woods,  there’s  always  something  out  in  it.  ❜

Surprisingly, Lauren is right, but they’re only just in the beginning. Victoria hadn’t wanted to go in at all, of course, but peer pressure was one hell of a drug.  ❝I bet you it’s a trick,❞ she comments, still ever-vigilant and though she won’t admit it, sticking close to Lauren’s side to protect her. ❝They’re trying to get us to let our guard down before the real scares begin.❞  It could be that. Or,  perhaps, too many people complained about the haunted house being too scary last year.  ❝I don’t like this. I really,  really don’t like this.❞ 

     “ what do we do? panic? freak? i usually panic, but i am happy to freak! ” 

❝They are not,❞ she denies, sneaking a glance over to her homecoming date to find out that he was, in fact, looking right at her, but that was just a coincidence, right? People sometimes just looked at each other at the same time! Josh was also looking her way, but that was Josh, he always checked people out. ❝Okay, fine, maybe they are. But they’re probably bewildered that I’m wearing heels and is laughing at how stupid I look.❞ Tori really shouldn’t have taken Jessica’s advice on that one -  her feet were in so much pain, she could barely walk without having to cling to someone else, and she was pretty sure she was going to twist her ankle at some point in the night. Suddenly, following the other girls’ lead and putting her shoes in the pile accumulating in the corner of the gym looked more and more appealing. ❝I mean, it’s fun getting to be taller than you, but I can’t fucking walk.❞
