The boar let out a noncommittal grunt, his equivalent of a clear and resounding yes. He was already taking support against the nearest wall, to better prove the solidity of his ankle–

Crack.

It wasn't just sprained. That much would have been nothing to the incredibly flexible boar, whose joints could bend and twist in physically impossible ways. No, the problem was one that no amount of flexibility could fix.

The bones were broken.

He nearly collapsed right into the ground, a strong hand digging into her shoulder for support. He narrowly avoided the fall, already pushing his own back into the wall so he could slowly slide down into a sitting position again.

He had felt the little thing approach long before it reached his leg. Inosuke's already crouching down to scratch the boarlet between the ears, a soft smile tugging at his lips.

Safely hidden under his mask, of course.

"Chibisuke! That's a really shiny acorn, y'know! You got a thing for finding the best ones!"

More head scratches, as he put the acorn away in his pocket. Best to save it for a time of need.

07 a hug where one muse picks the other up

When the boar charged, one usually did better to leap out of the way, or to start screaming for help. Unfortunately, his speed was such that neither option was available to most people.

Nobody could blame Aoi for standing there, motionless in the face of the rushing boar. His stance was a little off – his arms outstretched by his sides, yet he stood straighter than he usually did in his wild charges.

He wasn't trying to tackle her to the ground, no. When his arms closed around her frame, he did not push them both to collapse. Instead, Aoi would feel her feet lift off the ground, as she was brought up into a wild spin.

"I DID IT!! I WENT UP A RANK!!"

His hold around her was tight, but not so much that it would hurt. Unconsciously, Inosuke seemed to hold his strength back just enough to convey his enthusiasm without breaking all of her ribs.

She would find the ground as soon as she had left it. The boar was already off running into the distance, screaming to whoever stood close about his latest achievement. He did have a little glance back towards her, a little twinge tugging at his heart.

"That's not a good way to ask for food, you little brat. Even I know that!!"

Nevertheless, Inosuke crouched down to the little creature's level, and pushed its head back with a palm. He went digging in the pockets of his uniform pants, soon holding out a large number of shiny, delicious-looking acorns.
