What would drive your original character off the deep end? Is there a particular thing that could make them go insane?
(Outside, you know, an Amulet that makes you go insane. It IS an option though!)
I think Flora losing the family I think would do it for her. She is horrifying powerful, and having finally found something that made her happy, having that ripped from her would probably be enough to cause her to lose it.
Also naturally Eden can cause anyone to become Corrupted, which causes them to lose their minds
I forgot I gave my characters fursona ideas, and I fucking lost it re-reading Ghoul's (the cat):
Ghoul would be one of those pretentious fake outdoorsy dudes.
I just gave him a humansona lol For those curious:
Rei: Pangolin
Flora: Not-Deer
Bruce: Golden Lab (dog)
Clara and Sandy got left out. I think Clara would be an owl though.
Let's actually talk about Flora, her history is interesting and one of the more important characters in the story, probably only behind Eden herself.
Flora used to be a leader of a Large City (Name TBD) . Think like a Jarl, Earl, chieftain, etc in terms of power. The city was a farming community, with strong trade with neighboring cities and Flora was well respected despite her young age, taking up the mantle after the former leader, her father's, untimely death at the young age of 29.
Her being inhuman and the fact she had no interest in politics and her study was in medicine and agriculture, she initially faced a lot of criticism, both domestically and internationally.
The first few years she lead she fought an uphill battle for respect. But that turned around when a corrupted, a being made of pure fire the size of a skyscraper arrived on the horizon of her city.
She, within a day was able to not only arrange for thousands of people to be evacuated to safely, she lead a small team on what she expected to be a suicide mission to stop the corrupted, dubbed Diablo by the townsfolk.
She managed to defeat Diablo, and saved untold thousands of lives, as fire Corrupted are some of the most destructive beings in the world.
Over the next month's the story of her ending what should have rightfully been a regional extinction event, with the loss of only crops and homes went around the neighbouring fiefdoms and she quickly got recognition she never wished for.
A decade and a half passed as her own city thrived, but she felt unfulfilled. She never wanted to lead, and the fame of her actions wore her down.
She left one night, with no warning and just a note to one of her advisors, letting them know that Flora would not be returning, that she wished for the next leader was to be chosen by the people, but it couldn't be her, and she gave no heir to pass the title to
She lived in peace for another decade, slowly picking up folks who have been abandoned, lost, sole survivors and other outcasts and built herself a small community, still a leader, but one that was only because of her age and wisdom, and not because her dad was the leader before, and not because she was a fighter.
But Flora's presence and decades as Jarl/Chief/Earl/whatever title I pick, has profound impact not only on the city she lead, but almost all of them in the region, and made large leaps for Inhuman acceptance as well.
Ok, so here's a fun one, it was an question posed by [email protected] and it was:
What candy of today would your character be obsessed with?
I can picture Flora having candied ginger on them all the time, like in canon too, it fits
Rei I think would go feral for bubble gum. She would think it's so cool and edgy like a 90's movie villian
I don't know if it would count, but Ghoul would love those little lickable cat treats that come in a tube that are basically chicken goop.
Bruce I think would go for an old fashioned chocolate bar. Maybe with nuts. His taste wouldn't be tailored to the hyper sweetness we have today, so probably some high % dark chocolate with almonds would be his go to
Claras answer would be yes. I think Laffy Taffy or other treats that have facts or jokes on the wrapper would be ones she likes most

Amongst different factions they have different beliefs. The family doesn't have much, given how small they are. But the Believers, and several other cities have their own rituals almost all around protecting (or inviting) Eden's influence from their children. One group who I haven't a name for yet, Worships the touched, they believe that being touched is a blessing and they offer flowers, food, pottery and other art to a fire, which they burn every year in the honour of Eden, and they then try for children for an entire week.
This practice isn't only for the heterosexual/uterus having and sperm producing pairs either, polycules, and various queer pairings also try at producing children as well. During this week long festival, which takes place roughly when our Vernal Equinox celebrations would be in modern earth.
The ritual does lead to an increased number of winter births, which the fraction believes is good luck, but in reality they only have a marginally higher rate of the touched than other non-extremist groups.
During the festival the youth who have yet to pass their coming of age ritual, and the elderly who are too old to realistically produce a viable offspring, take care of the city, ensuring the infrastructure continues to operate, and replenishes food and water for the party goers.
Basically a week long orgy every year of condom-less and (mostly) indiscriminate sex
The family:
I talked about Rei in her own post, but here are the other members of The Family
Flora (Inhuman Human): she's Rei's adopted mother. Her ability is to turn things into explosives. Her profession is apothecary, and acts as the medic of the family. Important detail I think Tumblr will really enjoy. Flora has webbed fingers, a single lopsided horn on her head, and grows an abundance of muscle and hair on her arm, as well as having a thick club-like tail.
Bruce (Touched Human): who works as an engineer, he makes stuff to help the family with the trash that Rei collects.
Ghoul (Inhuman Cat (was once a house cat)):, he has human level intelligence, he can spray his fur at anything and it hardens into something akin to glass or crystal needles - Think like being able to use the move pin missile in Pokemon. He is a hunter and makes sure the family always has enough food.
Clare (Untouched Human Child): Shes a child found by Rei while she was in a ruin diving mission, she has a passion for learning about old world history, and Rei always tries to bring back books for Clare to read. (Meta context: she served as the one to teach both Rei and the reader what happened before the story began through the books she reads)
Sandy (Inhuman something? human ?), honestly not very fleshed out, I know I want her to have some sort of plant ability, but no idea what it'll be exactly. Might even make them an Inhuman plant or fungus.
The MC, her name is Rei, she's an Inhuman who originally had the power to control entropy, but between realizing I don't actually fully understand what entropy is, at least well enough to explain it in a sci-fantasy setting where it doesn't sound like science word gobley gook, she now has the power to remove kinetic energy from things across a plane she can control (start of the story this is about a 1m² plane (as in perfectly flat, 2 dimensional plane))
The kinetic energy turns into thermal energy within her body, heating her up - she has no way to vent that heat besides normal sweating so it is very capable of killing her if she were to stop say a bunch of bullets from heat stroke or even cooking herself from the inside. As she gets stronger she'll be able to convert it into different types of energy, most notable into more kinetic energy, allowing her to launch herself like a rocket.
Rei is in her mid 20s, and she's part of a small "family" who works together to survive in this horrible world, and she spends a lot of her time before the plot of the story scavenging in ruins, being able to stop falling buildings on her head is a pretty good skill to have when looking for old world supplies, and trading what she finds
