99045-7 (they/them) is a regular chipped Expie from a late run into the caves. Their handler added the 7 onto their designation as a joke because they lost a finger to a sand stalker (they now have 7 digits, ha ha), and other Sawians shortened this designation into Dash, which became their name. They are an overly cautious sort, known for taking their time going through the layers yet staying just ahead of the radline. Dash and the handler enabling them annoy the hell out of the scientists overseeing the two, but it's paid off well- Dash has only ever been hurt by one trap. The rest of their injuries are from falls and animal bites, and sure they have a lot of scars, but they'd much rather lose another finger than get their leg broken by another bear trap. Beyond their cautiousness, their personality is simple, they generally keep to themselves and stay out of trouble. They're nice but not very outgoing, they aren't one for sacrifice and could be considered selfish, they value good food highly and will make disproportionate trades for iced tea, and they are much more likely to open up to other folks with many scars (in search of more tips to stay safe).

Icy (they/he) is a Milky who doesn't have a chip, or if they do, it serves only to send back data and has no punishment protocol or interface installed. He's unafraid of traps- he'll defuse any he finds for his own and anyone else's safety, then use the scraps in his projects. His favorite activity is reading, partly because it helps him learn science and skills, but also because reading stories has helped him understand his own and other's emotions better. These stories also inadvertently led to him becoming friends with Grain. He is brave, smart, and cares a lot about trying to help others who are hurting, however they still want to fit in with other Milkys, so they pretend to be utterly aloof most of the time and play off any softness as a coincidence.

Grain (it/its) is a Dune without a chip, sent over purely to be rid of it after injuring a scientist and briefly breaching containment. It is not good at all at picking up social cues, it largely lacks the ability to feel empathy, and it doesn't do well with abstract concepts, but it still enjoys the company of other Sawians and its memory is second to none. Grain learned to care for others because keeping them safe means it will be happier in the long run (safe Sawians might give food!), really it's quite harmless for the most part. The only reason it got aggressive enough to hurt a scientist was because it got fed up with the experiments they were performing. Besides this, its memory gives it a surprising amount of crafting skill, it can build or repair anything it has taken apart before and has even managed to partially repair lifepods.
