I like Sirin and Chetwyn’s dynamics a lot :) Chetwyn has that chivalric code that he lives by, and it inspires Sirin to be a little less uncomfortable with the idea of helping other people. It’s still something she struggles with even after her Canto, because it’s dissonant to her feelings.
Her lack of empathy is kind of like playing music when you’re deaf (musical reference to Beethoven…), you don’t know what sound it makes anymore but you know music theory and how it sounds to other people so you can still perform it. Beethoven could still hear before that, but Sirin (metaphorically) was just born like this.
Indulgently it lends me to imagine this scene where she tries to stop the Pianist by listening to his music and starts playing by his rules, that’s how she recovered the notes (people) back from him. And that’s why she became a conductor, by taking control of these sounds even if she can’t hear it, because it’s what she feels is right to do.
I had a dream of my Tramlings in a horror survival setting. The ones in the frontlines are Othello and Ermine. Ermine would brute force through anything, but he doesn’t have the intelligence check to make sure everyone else survives after he clears the path, so that’s why I sent Othello with him.
Though neither of them passes the charisma check to convince the NPC not to walk into certain death, so all they can do is survive and instruct the rest of the crew from behind to search for the solution to the problem.
The setting was like horror survival on an island. We’ve had time to prepare, then the first obstacle to getting out was descending from building to the ground floor. Going through fire exits and all that. While rushing through them, I noticed for sure that all exits can be opened except the ground floor’s, so we need to find something to open it with when we get down there. Then we stood at the top of the stairway to observe more.
On the previous floors there were instructions, with a piece of rope tied to the railings. But since it requires reading while most people are rushing to get down, I just left it for Chetwyn and Shou, who happened to start on the top floor as well so they won’t miss anything.
Not sure if the rope should be untied or tied together across the floors. But once the monster start turning more NPCs down here into corpses, Othello called upstairs for them to finish thinking. I’m not sure what Ermine is thinking, but he’s extremely valuable rn as without him, Othello doesn’t have the strength check to push the corrupted NPC off the staircase when they climb up. That’s the most important thing to do now.
That’s all I saw today. It was fun. :) and provides good insight on their characterisation.
