Black Spinel, a Steven Universe OC I made for an AU where after the series ended (Pre-Future's release), Steven learned that White Diamond was actually one from a set of twins that were created when their home planet first formed.

Black Spinel's arrival is what set off the whole thing.

#17 - Does your character swear? What's their favorite phrase/word?

Gem mostly only swears under duress, or when describing something frustrating, i.e. "Gods damned ___".

#30 - What never gets old for your character? Something your character can't get enough of?

Gem's love of learning new things is infinite, especially in the field of magical studies. He also likes puzzles, which is similar in that he is a problem-solver for fun.

#38 - What fairytale/myth suits your character the best?

Ooh, this is a very tough one actually! I might edit a response for this one later but for right now I'm really not sure!

#34: How do they respond to condescension?

Gem has faced a lot of this after marrying into nobility, and especially after his jerk of a husband died and people started circulating rumours that he was responsible. But Gem just hid away from it and pretended it wasn't happening, rather than facing any accusations. He does not deal with condescension well at all, because he's not that confrontational a person, naturally. If you push the right buttons, you might get him to finally react, but it would take a lot. He'd rather just say "yeah, whatever, you're right" and try to move on.

#42: Is there something your character isn't very good at, but enjoys doing nonetheless?

Despite being a little bit awkward, and spending a lot of time alone after gaining his pact, Gem actually does have genuine joy out of socializing with people. He's just out of practice!

#53: What does freedom mean to them?

Gem has seen too much that wealth places a person above the rules of everyone else. It is an unfair reality in his eyes that the mark of nobility is what determines real freedom.

CHOICE #61: Who do they go to when they've had a nightmare?

This is something I think brings Gem and Wyll closer! Because Wyll is the first other warlock Gem has ever met, he naturally is interested in comparing notes. Gem has semi-frequent nightmares influenced by his connection to the Far Realm. So, he of course at one point pretty early on in their adventure if Wyll suffered the same. While Wyll is incapable of talking about most of his own pact at first, he could of course show sympathy and offer a listening ear.

#4: If your character was a work of art, how would you describe them?

A lively colour palette bordering on gaudy, with a polished finish.

#18: How does your character act when they want to seem inviting?

Gem is good at playing something equivalent to a "damsel in distress" type of roll to get people's attention. Like, he knows he's pretty, so he plays that up and downplays everything else to seem less threatening.

#19: How does your character act when they want to seem threatening?

I'm pretty sure I have yet to roll a successful intimidation check with Gem in-game lol... So I've decided he's just not that good at it. But I headcanon that tieflings bare their fangs as a threat, so there is that!

#31: Can your character visualize actual concepts in their head? Or are they just vague thoughts?

Because of Gem's connection to the Far Realm through his Great Old One patron, he has extremely vivid thoughts and dreams, and a good memory of it all.
