Minor

This is my sona AM (pronounced ay-em, not am). Their name comes from my nickname "Ams" and the term used for telling the time. They use they/ she pronouns and is aroace :D

Their design has a lot of similarities to Viktor's design (blue jacket, robot arm and earrings), because, as I explain later on, he's the main person in her life.

The letters A & V on the earrings have a few meanings:

-AV means AM & Viktor because he’s my fave character -It also means AM & V, because you play from V’s perspective when playing the game. Also, I explain it later, but V is an important reason why AM is alive. -AV is also the type of cables used for older video game consoles, like the Wii or Gamecube. AM takes an interest in disassembling and scavenging for old technology.

BACKSTORY

AM was traveling around Night City, without a place to stay or a job. To make money, they would scavenge for materials where they could and sell them on. She started having vision problems, and as her eye got worse, she was less perceptive when scavenging. She needed to get this resolved, but all the reputable doctors/ ripperdocs were too expensive, so she decided to go to a shady underground ripperdoc.

It turned out that the ripperdoc was actually a Malestom. Malestrom was running experiments on people under 25. They wanted to see what would happen if people whose brains/ bodies hadn’t fully developed yet got cyberwear installed. AM was abducted and subjected to these experiments.

Eventually, Malestrom got too careless, and kidnapped the child of a politician. This politician hired a detective to find out what happened, and then a merc to take down these experiments and receive his son back. V was the merc who was hired for this mission.

(Note: In my playthrough, I selected female V, so the V in this universe is female too.)

When the politician’s son was found, he got immediate medical attention of the best quality. On the other hand, AM was in critical condition, and had nowhere to go. V decided to take them to Viktor. Viktor managed to stabilise them, but their left eye and right arm were unsalvageable.

(Note: These injuries are partially based on real life, because my left eye is quite a bit worse than the other, and my right wrist can get very sore because I draw for hours on end without taking breaks.)

While AM is recovering right after being rescued, they insist on paying Viktor back. Unfortunately, because of her injuries, she couldn’t go scavenging to earn money. Viktor told her that they didn’t have to pay him back, but she was very insistent.

So, as a form of payment, AM works as an apprentice/ helper around Viktor’s shop. They don’t have a ripperdoc license of course, but they can help in other ways and learn new things in the process.

CHARACTER DYNAMICS

Viktor - AM may as well be adopted by him, and she basically lives in his shop. He was the one who pierced her ears, and also cuts their hair. If she ever needs anything, he's more than happy to help or give her some money, but AM always works hard to pay off her debt. Because of AM’s history with the Malestrom ripperdocs, Viktor is the only ripperdoc she trusts now. 

(Note 1: In medieval times, the job of a barber and a surgeon were the same. They were called ‘barber-surgeons’, and would cut hair as well as do surgeries. So I thought it'd be cool to have Viktor be able to do haircuts too! Plus, his robotic-hand thing could probably have some cool scissors.)

(Note 2: In my actual Cyberpunk game, I also only go to Viktor and no other ripperdoc.)

Misty - Misty is like a cool older sister to AM. She is always there for them, especially when it comes to emotional problems. AM helps out around Misty’s shop in their free time, and routinely gets tarot readings from Misty. Misty is also the one who dyes the ends of AM’s hair red.

V - AM thinks V is VERY cool. They like to tag along with her on missions when they can, both for extra money and for the experience. V sometimes lets them tag along for the less-risky missions.

Jackie - The best way I can describe AM and Jackie's dynamic is the best cousins ever. They both like very similar things, and AM really wants a motorbike like his, but she is still too young. Jackie would try to be a good role model, and say that “motorbikes are dangerous”, but then right after say something like "do you want to see something cool" and do a dangerous stunt. Jackie is also always happy to take AM on missions, but sometimes Vik, Misty or V need to tell him not to, because he forgets how dangerous the missions can be for a child.

Kirk - I wanted to add someone AM would HATE. Kirk has no qualms with hiring a child for dangerous missions, and AM is desperate for the money, so she usually accepts these jobs and ends up getting hurt. Nobody likes Kirk, and this includes AM.

(Note: I actually really like Kirk, but in a hate way. He's so terrible and it's so funny and great)

Mama Welles - Unsurprisingly, Mama Welles is very caring and motherly. When she sees AM, she checks up on them, making sure they’re well fed and getting on well, etc. She also ends up seeing AM quite often, due to them and Jackie getting into trouble together. She usually has to lecture AM and Jackie, but neither really learns, but both feel really guilty. Of course, she’s lecturing Jackie more than AM, because he’s old enough to know better.
