nowhere to run
It had been a long night. Himchan had surprised even himself by staying out far later than he had expected. As much as he hated to admit it, staying out after the sun bid its farewell to the sky and left the moon to reign had become less difficult. His energy had even began to spike at certain points in the night. It alarmed him. The bite had altered him in more ways than he had thought of. It was changing him, and, frankly, it was unsettling. While he did not feel the urge to stay awake well into the wee hours of the morning, his tolerance for the night was substantially better, and that was something that made him feel less human, even if it was just minor.
Heart thundering in his chest, blood rushing through his ears, Himchan all but hurried into the condo complex. He had given the thought of being out in the dead of the night too much consideration, rendering him a bit more than nervous. Even if he was not a mere human anymore, there were still other creatures -- and hunters -- lurking about that would not think twice as they drained the life from him. Tapping the button for the elevator, he wanted nothing more than to lie in bed and sleep for the night, leaving those haunting ideas behind.
Ding! The doors to the elevator slid open, and he was quick to enter. He almost did not even take notice of the presence accompanying him now. Smoothing the front of his shirt, Himchan braced himself before straightened his body, eyes meeting the woman who was now in the elevator with him. When did she get here? He blinked, a strange sensation overcoming him. Wait.
He had not meant to stare, but he could feel an odd knot tying itself in his belly. The more he observed her features, the tighter it grew, until Himchan had to eventually avert his gaze. He was certain it was his ex, but how was he supposed to say anything? She had ruined everything, and Himchan could feel the familiar flames of anger licking at him.
Huffing, Himchan turned his head completely away from her general direction. He had nothing more to say to her; he had already gotten his revenge years ago. The thought of her repeatedly jamming her toes against hard surfaces and stepping into liquids while having socks on played in his mind, and Himchan could not fight the smirk growing at the corners of his lips. In the next moment, that smirk was swiftly swept from his face.
The light in the elevator dimmed, only a red emergency light overhead illuminating the small space. The movement had come to a halt. Himchan grit his teeth in anger, but, still, he refused to even acknowledge the woman, bitter resentment having grown inside of him for so long. It may have been immature considering how many years that had passed, but he felt that he had just reasons.
