People with fixations and intense interests and hardcore hobbyists often do want to share their knowledge.
Writers are, by nature, curious, and have to do a lot of research on random topics.
We value folks who have niche knowledge. We seek them out. We become them. They inspire us with ideas. They help us write believable stories.
