'Coat Of Arms'
The city coat of arms of 'Bautzen/Бауцен' with its heraldic coloring blue/yellow and its iconic town wall with additional 'Україна/Ukraine' lettering.
Shortly after Russias invasion into Ukraine some right wing citizens of Bautzen destroyed and removed blue/yellow flags in the city. BUT the coat of arms colors of Bautzen and Upper Lusatia are blue and yellow.

"Krabat" is a legendary figure, prominent in the regions of Upper Lusatia shaped by Sorbic culture. The tales around him are variably composed of mythical episodes of different origin and distribution. Krabat is usually described as an ordinary mortal and inhabitant of the region, who comes into possession of magical powers, which he uses mostly for good purposes.

There have been many literary adaptations of the tale, such as "The Sorcerer's Mill" by Jurij Brězan or Ottfried Preußler's novel titled simply "Krabat", which made the tale well-known all over Germany and which I warmly recommend to absolutely all of you. Said novel, together with the amazing concept album "Zaubererbruder" by ASP, from which the lyrics quoted above are taken, are the basis of this illustration, which I began sketching out two years ago when visiting Lusatia.

the findlingspark nochten is a botanical and geological park that's situated close to boxberg power station - one of many in the lausitz region. you can learn about the regions geological history, while also experiencing a landscape heavily changed by human hands over decades of mining for coal. it was very impressive, the landscaping was beautiful and with the backdrop of the power station also quite dramatic! the various landscapes you find in the park reach from typical heath lands to alpine and arid landscape shapes, sporting the occasional exotic plant that seems to grow well in the soil of the lausitz district. you might also stumble upon a praying mantis if you look closely enough! that definitely was one of my favourite encounters while exploring the park ❤️ #findlingsparknochten #oberlausitz #lausitz #lusatia #boxbergkraftwerk #landscapes #landscaping #botanicalgardens #geologicalgardens #sculptures #prayingmantis (hier: Findlingspark Nochten) https://www.instagram.com/p/CU9uBGhtkWA/?utm_medium=tumblr
