i need help from someone with a working memory and a basic understanding of Catholicism
two points of media have combined to create this confusion, allow me to share the media in chronological order given i am also remembering the general timeline correctly:
someone made a tumblr post in the 2010s (maybe 2014 or so?) about how when Star Wars fans say "may the force be with you" they are tempted to reply "and also with you" bc of their catholic upbringing and/or they were catholic at the time of posting as well
event 2 is John Mulaney's Netflix special (i may be quoting the wrong special i am forgetting everything involving time around this topic today) Kid Gorgeous Radio City (or so) where he talks about going to church with his parents after having not been for a while and they say whatever the phrase is that used to receive the response "and also with you" but the whole point of that story was that they changed the response to "and with your spirit"
my brain has been filling the metaphorical call for this ritual in as "may the force be with you" which is not the original phrase
if the response is either "and also with you" or "and with your spirit" what is the call in this call and response situation?
