i'm trapped in Oakhurst

One big manor in the center, housing a powerful family or figure (Goldsmith's coven and then Louis), room for balls and town meetings and whatever the reclusive Mayor Louis could possibly be up to.

Part of the town could have been sheltered within the walls around the manor, the rest of the estate had acres of land to stretch across.

An estate so magnificent, it spoke to Oakhurst's power for hundreds and hundreds of years. A manor so large and strong, it took its own people several days of burning and destruction to tear it down.

If I must make an introduction, it shan't be anything grand. My name is Owen, and I grew up in Oakhurst. I now return as a simple lumberjack, who somehow, have been persuaded to set up this.. 'blog'.

I suppose it may be useful to keep track of the happenings in this town, so I won't entirely dismiss it. However, I shan't entertain any fairytales of the supernatural, and I ask to not be disturbed with such nonsense. I don't want to repeat myself.

Oakhurst has the potential to be a nice town. Let us not squander that.

Haunted appalachia/highlands type shit fr

It makes sense, since Oakhurst is likely in the UK near the highlands. Appalachia and the Scottish highlands share many similarities, since they're cut from the same cloth of land. Oakhurst is the type of area that's cursed beyond the massacres. Something seeps through the soil and breeds in the trees. The forest floor is covered in dead things.

So, it’s always really bothered me that it’s never really made clear where in the world Oakhurst is, so I dedicated the last four days to finding out.

A lot of people place it in Germany or France which is fine, but I personally think it makes the most sense for it to be placed in Scotland since the oldest character is Scottish (possibly Gael given the time period Scott would’ve been born, which also opens up Ireland). Anyway I’ve spent the past few days researching Scottish and Irish history and their natural terrain and forests. Then I got the bright idea to search up the -hurst suffix. Turns out it’s an old English suffix meaning a large, dense wooded area, so Oakhurst literally means oak forest. A quick google search finds the Aruindle Oakwood National Nature Reserve in the west of the Scottish highlands, right near where the Gaels settled after migrating from Ireland about 1.6K years ago.
