Driving up to Koko Head, a dormant volcano, was quite daunting. The trail goes straight up at the steepest point. And we were about to conquer it.

From the bottom of the stairs, you can see the trail run all the way to the top. It gets quite steep around halfway.

Over 1,000 ft of elevation gain in less than a mile distance…It was hard work! But the views were absolutely worth it.

Going back down was also pretty scary. A slow and controlled decent was a workout in its own right. By the time I got to the bottom, my thighs and calf muscles were twitching hard core! But I did it, and I’m super proud.
