Fluids | May Leitz
I both loved and hated this. I loved how this story was written and found the desperation and depravity deeply uncomfortable. And that depravity was so nauseatingly written that I also hated it. To be clear--I EXPECT to be disgusted in gross splatter punk books and want to paint this as a positive. A disgusting, horrifying positive. I actually read this on a long train ride in Japan and full disclosure was nauseously looking out the windows at the scenery so I wouldn't feel so disgusted. That's great!
My only negatives are some typos but none affect the flow and artistry of the writing style.
Full disclosure, I learned about this book because I've been a fan of May's YouTube channel since she had the talking skeleton. If you are a fan of NyxFears I would recommend reading this book. It is exactly in the realm of brutal that May would recommend on her channel.
Also, I have to mention that the GoodReads description includes that the writing is stream of consciousness, which is true but is so similar to how May talks in her videos, that you can read it in her voice. For me this was a huge benefit because I find her both so engaging (grossly engaging, affectionate?) and so fucking funny.

I just finished reading Fluids by May Leitz. I'm really glad I read Girl Flesh first but holy shit this was still so fucking good.
I've got a lot of thoughts but it's very late and I'm very tired but that was rad as fuck.
Art I did recently of one of my fave content creators, @mayleitz <3
i love her mind

oh my god i was thinking chapter 9 is where fluids really starts to ramp up and. yeah.
(on killing lauren) "it occurs to me that this isn't what she wants at all. i was trying to do her a favor, but she can't possibly feel the comfort of this. she can't see what a favor this is if she doesn't know it's me!"
Ok, but when Mrs. May Nyxfears said that Hereditary (2018) was a trans allegory? Unparalleled.
It's a damn fine day when @nyxfears uploads a 42 minute video that's a follow up to her last video about movies to watch while in isolation, but on hard mode. I see Nekromantik in the thumbnail and I'm immediately excited.
Thank you so much for this, May. My shriveled dark heart couldn't be happier. I'm six minutes in and you've already covered two of my favorite horror films.
My darling freaks and creeps, if you haven't seen this or her previous video, please do. You're gonna have so much fun with both of them, and if you know me and my tastes, this is a pack of gold star stickers of approval.
