i was told the "braid tugging" in Wheel of Time was going to be annoying, and the first two books I was like "eh, not bad" but now I'm on Dragon Reborn and OH MY FUCKING GOD NYNAEVE IF YOU DON'T STOP TUGGING THAT FUCKING BRAID SO HELP ME GOD
I wonder if the Wheel of Time show is going to try to do the "Nynaeve heals Siuan's stilling" scene. Because I think it makes very little sense given the first two seasons (I haven't started the third and might not). Even setting aside that we haven't seen Nynaeve heal anything in the first two seasons (whereas by Falme, and especially Tear, Nynaeve was well-established as an astoundingly gifted healer), there are a couple of political elements that make it not make sense.
The big one is that Nynaeve has zero reason to trust Siuan. She hasn't had personal training with Siuan about how to channel that involved the two of them throwing each other around a tent, she hasn't been given top-secret missions by Siuan and an implicit grant of enormous trust by someone who knew about Rand and the Black Ajah. None of that.
Less than zero, actually. If Rand says anything to the girls, it'll be that Siuan tried to hold him in prison in the Tower and turned on him, such that he had to be broken out. (Mat or Min might share similar stories; they know Liandrin was holding them, but didn't Siuan go looking?) And she'll know that Siuan banished Moiraine, because Moiraine isn't likely to tell about her being secret lovers. Elayne probably won't be happy about Elaida becoming Amyrlin, but Elaida is trusted advisor to Elayne's mother, whereas Siuan does keep fucking things up.
So, do I expect Nynaeve to miraculously heal a stilled Siuan? Absolutely. Will it make sense in the context of the show? ...
