It is still so funny that timeline wise they are so close to retconing Katrielle but they don't do it. My dear girl lives once more.

I will miss the 2D cutscenes. That said, I'm glad for the flexibility 3D scenes offers them. Later games, MM, AL, vsAA had had some cutscenes different from the trailer and the game, so that means they paid twice for some cutscenes. In my heart without proof I think LMJ also suffered from having the cutscenes done early on and not being able to change them later. I feel like changing a 3D cutscene is much easier than a 2D one, although it might be tougher to make them look good. But oh well, they managed for nnk2 and fli so I'm not extremely worried about that.

In fact, I hope it's the cafe girl shown in one of the demos, (joke->) that's upset because Layton prefers tea over coffee.

Btw the eagle and the robot duck aren't puzzles, based on the ui, so those are minigames! Very happy the mandatory animal minigame is still a thing.

This shot of Layton's shadow on Luke is chef kiss. Reminds me of that famous Kat art in which her shadow is the professor. Yess!! The professor has a big shadow!!! Metaphorically!!

See my point about 3D scenes, how here Layton is pointing and the Allinston guy is next to him, but then in the magazine it's Luke who's next to him. Easily editable. Also we only rule out Allinston as person being pointed at.

Koichi Yamadera has the most funny PL voice actor career: he started out as Pierre Starbucks, a movie NPC, then he was promoted to The Professor Himself for the anime (I'm guessing Oizumi was too expensive) ando now he's been demoted to comic relief sheriff again loool

Very intriguing that they brought back the figure of the puzzle keeper even though both vsAA and LMJ didn't have it. I guess it's because that there's so many puzzles they have to reuse npcs and locations as the story develops but. I legit thought we'd never see a puzzle keeper again.

Half of the budget of this game has gone to bribing Nintendo so they let L-5 release a Layton game in something that isn't Nintendo

At this point it's a coin toss whether or not this actually comes out in 2026. I hope it does because of a bet I made in a discord server but if we don't hear anything by next two months I'd say forget it. I always vote no in polls about it coming out this year anyway.
