poetic cinema 😩😩 for #gifyourhuckleberry SUPERNATURAL (2005-2020) SHREK (2001)
a lifetime ago, cas had asked dean to sing. he’d told him that it didn’t matter the song, or even if dean’s voice was bad. cas only wanted to hear dean sing, and yet dean never sang. now, cas is gone—gone and never coming back because nothing ever comes back from the empty, and dean never sang for him. and dean is acutely aware of the fact. half out of his mind with tears sliding down his cheeks, he starts to sing, his voice watery and words coming out in broken syllables.
“you are my sunshine. my only sunshine. you make me happy—” dean presses a hand to his mouth as a sob escapes him. he closes his eyes feeling tears leak from them and catch onto his lashes. his hand falls from his mouth, arm going limp as he sniffles and swallows the lump that’s started to form in the back of his throat. heart pounding in his ears, he continues,“when skies are grey. you’ll never know dear, how much i love you—” he presses the heels of his hands to his eyes. “please don’t take my sunshine away.”
the verse ends and he weeps, openly and uncontrollably. don’t leave me, he thinks before reality settles in: cas isn’t coming back; he already left.
