since the sun has been out lately here, have a reminder that NSAIDs (ibuprofen, naproxen, celebrex, etc) can cause skin reactions when you're exposed to the sun and make you burn more easily. so if you're on NSAIDs (yes, even advil) in the sunlight, make sure to wear sunscreen or cover up!
Damn these ulcers💀💊💊
A cautionary tale: I overused ibuprofen about 10 years ago, when my migraines went chronic. It wasn't so much the headaches but the prodrome, which is sudden overwhelming sleepiness, like narcolepsy ... when I had to drive anywhere, I'd need to pop ibuprofen to stay awake. A neurologist told me much later that since my brain was having an inflammatory reaction to the barometric change, that's why an anti-inflammatory NSAID would have helped. The bad news: I have stage 3a kidney disease. With no family history of kidney problems, the conclusion is I damaged my kidneys by NSAID overuse. There's a reason those warnings are (in very small print) on the label. See a neurologist; get a better abortive (like a triptan or a gepant) and a preventive med. We tend to think that OTC meds are safe ... but they all have risks.
