i have a feeling this is going to be really hard. I know what my work capabilities are and I’m not anywhere close to using all of those I currently have, so I know that if I spent time and looked for the right job, I’d be able to make about 50% more than what I’m making now and that’s the origin of why I’ve been so hesitant.
I figure if I really make the right kind of effort and then see if I can do anything with it, then I know what I should be doing come the first of the year (either sticking with the status quo and really putting a lot of effort into writing or moving back to what I was doing before and going for jobs that require more of me and writing just for fun).
Being 50: I have my eye on the future and that means (the unlikely situation of) retirement (like that’ll really happen-but it sure would be nice) so that’s what I need to be working towards.
plus: I really want to be happy and fulfilled and I just don’t see a ‘job’ doing that for me. I’d rather be happy and fulfilled from doing something I love, and if I can make some money from it to supplement what I make from a standard kind of job? awesome. The likelihood of that? not high, but you can’t win if you don’t play!
