"Reality is not always probable, or likely. But if you're writing a story, you have to make it as plausible as you can, because if not, the reader's imagination will reject it."
Borges believes that language does not reflect reality but alludes to it and allows speculation. To him, language is a symbol that, being indirect, can be interpreted in many ways. This means reality cannot fit into the static structure of language, made of words-nouns, verbs, adjectives-whose meaning remain unchanged despite the constant change of the objects in time and space. Since words are universal, but reality particular, language is a limited tool compared to the complexity of both the world and our consciousness.
We believe that photography is similar to language in this aspect. As photographers, we recognize the gap between the captured image and the reality we are experiencing when taking the photograph. The image that remains is, to us, a symbol that helps not to reflect reality, but to create a new one, and what we hope is that with this symbol the viewer can create their own reality.
