But I will say I wore a lot less merch back then, mostly because had anyone dared to approach me negatively about it it would have been my thirteenth reason and I had just enough sense of self preservation to know that and not put myself in that position.
There has always been something but back then it was more real world and now it just doesn’t exist out there (barring, as I said, people who made it their personality to hate her and haven’t found a new one). Irl people either love her or ignore her for the most part (in my personal experience of course), it’s only online that the snark is permeating even fandom.
