About the objects or gambling: the way I see it, what the op of that post means is whether or not a collectible is something you can just buy because you want it and know you'll get it. Like if someone collects rocks and they can freely choose what kind of a rock they want to add to their collection next, that's objects. But if they can't pick a specific rock for a specific price but instead have to buy a random rock from a certain selection of rocks, maybe getting the one they want, maybe not, then that's gambling. It's a big problem that plenty of the people who buy into these recent collectible crazes aren't actually there for the collectible at all—they don't want the rare item or version or whatever, they want the rush of "winning" in gambling and the item itself is completely irrelevant. Still, because it's more lucrative, this incentivizes the companies to sell more collectibles as gambling instead of objects, which feeds into the risk of people getting addicted to gambling and makes collecting harder and unnecessarily more expensive for the people who do actually care about getting specific items. On a personal scale gambling can be often turned into objects by buying second hand, but it doesn't of course negate the overall worrying direction of many kinds of collectibles in recent years.
