It’s been a solid 4 days since I started trying this no shampoo thing and I already look like Viggo Mortensen in LOTR.
Which I’m not mad about.

The result of doing the no shampoo thing for well over a month and then putting conditioner in it for the first time. 14 year old me is QUAKING this is the exact hair he was trying to have.
Rub a dub dub 🛁🛁🛁 Three lil corgis in a tub...we’ve been super busy and haven’t had the time to bathe these guys. Cuppy had the stinkiest bum! #threecorgis #nopoo #bathtime 🦄🦄🦄 (at Hermosa Beach, California) https://www.instagram.com/p/BwUk7xFnaT3/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=yiq0clt2qlgz
So, my November will be a no poo November.
Seeing a Curly Girl Method vid on youtube intrigued me, and I looked up ingredients in my shampoos and shower gels.
Oh boy.
So I'm trying to quit, and I found lots of helpful (german) articels to create my own products. Will see how that goes.
For now I'm starting to replace shampoo with a Natron/water mix, it's supposed to wash out all chemicals in my hair.
(but because I'm chicken, I'm keeping my old products so I can go back whenever I want to!)
If anyone wants to know how it goes, or the receipts I'm using, let me know!
My No-Poo/Microbiome Experiment
Hair:
Sunday 5/21: Wash with castille soap diluted. Rinse with ACV. Didn’t clean well as I missed backs and sides. Too hard to spread liquid all over hair so I added olive oil but have not tried it yet. Need to use spray bottle.
Thurs 5/25: Hair was greasy so used lots of cornstarch. It was still gross and looked bad from the color and made me sad so I washed it with two egg yolks mixed in water with half a lemon juice. Was too watery to get on all my hair so I got two more egg yolks with the other half of the lemon juice. Rubbed them into the parts I missed (back and sides). Brushed with my oil brush to detangle while wet. Worked too well; my hair was dry and staticky. Next day I rubbed in a couple drops of jojoba to bottom of my hair and brushed throughout with oil brush, even bangs. Was nice for a while but then got a bit dry again. Not bad though.
Skin: Monday 5/22: Last deodorant. (Pretty sure.) Wed. 5/24: Last soap on body. Will obviously still use on hands. Today, Friday, May 26: Decided to go water only on skin from now on ('cept hands, duh), and no deodorant. Will wash hair with eggs, lemon and ACV (will try to spread out days between washes gradually), cornstarch as needed, and use jojoba on hair and skin. Olive oil also nice on skin. Use Burts Bees shea butter on hands and beeswax on lips. Will spot wash with water as needed on non-hair wash and non-exercise days, otherwise will rinse fully.
