Dear blue skiesā friends, fans and family,
For roughly 9,000 days, blue skies was open for business and from its early beginnings, we received so much love and support from you, our community. As a result, you became more than customers to usāyou became a kind of family at large and we could not be more grateful to you for sustaining us through a twenty-five year run that included both a recession and a pandemic. Without your patronage and generosity, there would not have been a long-running blue skies.
We are also indebted to our many artists, makers, reps and vendors who supplied the fun, cool and beautiful stuff that we chose to offer. Without those creative, funny, innovative souls, there would not have been a blue skies. When you supported our small business, you were also supporting theirs. Many of those partners have become dear and lifelong friends who we wish continued success on the wholesale side of things.
Much gratitude to our fellow NorthShore businesses and owners. Alongside them, we worked together to make our neighborhood a great place to shop, eat, and play. Itās one-of-a-kind local businesses that give any neighborhood its character and reputation. Over the years, blue skies was lucky to exist in the company of excellent shops, galleries, salons and restaurants.
Throughout our history, blue skies employed a multitude of wonderful people. Our blue crews welcomed you in, got to know you, helped you with your gift selections, and wrapped tens of thousands of presents. These best people are too numerous to mention by name but you know many of them, and they know who they areāthank you each and every one. Brick and mortar stores are all about the human touch which our blue crews delivered and, without it, blue skies would definitely not have been.
Two staff members, Ginger Carden and Denise Shropshire worked at blue skies from its opening in the year 2000. Deniseās keen buyerās eye meant blue skies was stocked with an eclectic mix of fun goods and beautiful jewelry, while Ginger curated our social media presence with a clever, informed, and perfect sensibility. Kim Meyer, Rebekah Davis and Karleena Burton were key staff for eight, seven, and six years respectively, helping you in the shop and feeding treats to your beloved dogs. With ingenuity and creativity, Kelly Corcoran brought to life the frequently changing storefront windows that you anticipated and enjoyed.
We hope you cherish the things you bought from us over the years and the memories associated with them.
Again, thank you for your love and support.
We will miss seeing you but are happy knowing that you are busy writing the new chapters of your lives tooā¦
We wish you peace, love and blue skies forever,
