there is no fixation experience quite as painful as being fixated on a character who’s part of a hyperpopular ship except not the fandom favorite character in the ship the other guy. the other guy who gets 24/7 overlooked all the time and often reduced in the context of the ship to nothing but a device for the popular guy’s arc and who is seen as nothing but the love interest whos entire character is wholly ignored by almost everybody, shipper or not. the only thing that could make this worse is if ur favorite is actually reduced to a supporting device for the other character in canon except for deeply compelling character based reasons but nobody sees those character based reasons bcuz nobody realizes your favorite has Flaws and Struggles and an arc of their own (that continues beyond when everyone decided it ended) and crippling self worth and self image issues that lead to them being entirely dependent on the other character for any sort of sense of self bcuz they want to be the other guy more than they want to be themself and Im sure this is a universal experience right
