16. which stereotype about your country you hate the most and which one you somewhat agree with?

Not an easy question. I believe the stereotype I hate most is considering the Southern characteristics as general. Italy is likely one of the most eclectic countries in the world, less than 200 years ago it didn't even exist as it was divided into dozens of different little countries and IT SHOWS, God, it shows so much. Depending on the area we live we have countless different dialects, habits, traditions, foods, clothes, even etiquette, I live in a little village in the Northern part of Lombardy and when I move two villages farther I can already hear a different accent, just imagine how it would be visiting the South: I couldn't even understand what they say, and I'd probably make a gaffe after another for weeks before I got used to their way of doing. I consider this variety such a precious treasure of my country, that's why it annoys me seeing people not even wanting to grasp it. On the contrary, the stereotype I agree with is the attachment to food and, in particular, the proper way to prepare and cook it. I'm not ashamed to say I, too, get upset when I see rough mistakes about food preparation discussions or, even worse, a dish whose ingredients have been just smashed together with no sense at all, however, no matter if that's good or bad, we Italians DO get heated about this subject, and not admitting it would be just ridiculous.

18. do you speak with a dialect of your native language?

Yes, I proudly do :D I speak "varesotto" when I'm at home, "ticinese" when I'm at work and "castelano" when I visit my partner in Central Italy. Please notice: - varesotto: a dialect specific of the area surrounding Varese, my home town. It is actually declined in many little variations depending on the specific zone, I personally speak the one of the village(s) right below Varese, though I understand all the others - ticinese: a dialect specific of Ticino, one of the southern canton of Switzerland. Quite similar to the varesotto, though the accent is not the same and several words are completely different - castelano: a dialect specific of Città di Castello, town only, in the province around the accent and words change quite a lot

30. do you have people of different nationalities in your family?

No, I don't. The most "stranger" member in my family was my great-grandmother, who came from Milan, all the others have been born and grown here in Varese, specifically in a little area between two villages. Quite funny, isn't it? I mean, my great-grandmother considered a stranger only because she came from a city 50km away. However I have cousins in the USA, children and grandchildren of an uncle emigrated there around 1950, does that count?

I’ve never been a party person, but I always celebrated my birthday cooking for my loved ones. Because of the quarantine, I couldn’t help but spending it alone.
