NONBURGER
NON-bur-gur ( N.) Word to use for a meatless hamburger that tastes and looks (pretty much) like a hamburger made of beef, but contains no animal proteins. Also may be used as adj. to describe the ground product used in cooking, available in grocery stores (and in Impossible Tacos and Bowls at Qdoba and Taco Bell.)Β Usage: Joel ate a nonburger and fries at Burger King (the Impossible Whopper, they called it) and wondered when McDonaldβs would start serving its version, the P.L.T. That night, at home, he made nonburger chili for dinner.

Day 3 of ace week and day I-don't-know-how-many of me trying to best articulate the issues I have with how asexual and aromantic characters are treated in fandom, forever hoping to get the point across
That's what she said
Idk stupid jokes aside I guess it's obvious to us by now but it IS kind of the baseline of the struggle huh
Shooting my proverbial "does anyone else experience this" shot
Anyway happy pride month

So recently I got an ask from a Mexican teen who shared some life experiences that put right back into perspective how brutal this kind of reaction is, even if it comes from people who feel they mean well. I'd kind of tuned that out of my brain due to force of habit over the years, but... Yeah, it does feel like that, doesn't it.
I don't think I've done proper justice to this ask at all, it's mainly a reality it reminded me of point-blank and I encourage you to read the full thing as it's more interesting than this, but... Yeah. I hope this was OK to draw in response, though.
Like... I know there's asterisks to everything. At the end of the day as long as people are healthy in the way they conduct their lives and live with others I don't think there's much to fear. And personally, I could also just've kept living on my own and been fine. But still. Been thinking about it lately and I saw a lot of pros, and that's been nice to think about.
(Edit from the next morning: Fixed some of the wording in the introduction line to try and make it more inclusive and representative, in a way that's hopefully more acceptable. Unfortunately I can't fix it on my other socials as easily 'cus most social media besides this one suck when it comes to editing anything, but if it's suitable, this is the wording I'll go with whenever re-issuing this anywhere. Thanks for your patience and apologies for the hiccups when I legit don't think enough.)
Just to be perfectly clear, none of those things is hugely egregious or problematic on its own (the 'LGBT' acronym especially, I've seen a fair amount of 'Q+' people that associate with it just fine and that's understandable), it's just a lot of little things that tend to pile up over time. And yes, most of the time none of them are intentionally pushing us aside β but again, that's 'cus we'd have to exist in people's eyes for that intention to even exist in the first place.
Anyway. I dunno. Feels a bit overly whiny. But it's another one of those things I'd wanted to get out of my system ig.
