Branching out
Hello fanfic writers,
If you know me, you probably know I write OC and reader-insert fanfiction. I’ve dabbled with non-OC fanfiction before but they were shorter oneshots that I struggled to write.
I would like to learn how to become a better writer. I believe OC and reader fics have their place in fanfiction writing, but I feel that being able to write within the realm of canon characters and relationships is just as, if not more, important in the realm of fandom.
Unfortunately, without using OCs through which to connect, I struggle to come up with ideas for stories and to engage with the content. I have tried various fandoms and various genres, but I can’t seem to work through this.
So, do any of my fellow writers have any tips for improving my ability to write non-OC fics? I would love to hear from others, especially if you started out writing OC fics like I did.
Thanks,
Holly XOXO
A big thank you to @thepamdeathforgot for winning the 1st place in my recent art contest!
I had the privilege of drawing their DnD wives~ An adorable Gnome and Handsome Dwarf? Totally my jam!
Since I wasn’t able to livestream the art, as I’d hoped, I instead did a speed-paint for it (as I’m going to do with the 2nd and 3rd place, as well). You can view that here~
