Ambient noise websites for studying
If you don’t like studying in silence but music distracts you, ambient noise is a good solution.
1. mynoise.net This one is my favorite. It has tons of different tracks, including nature sounds, voices and drones, and it has sliders to adjust the balance of each track. I haven’t tried all of them, but so far my favorites are Irish Coast, Folk Tradition, Northern Lights, Cave Chimes and In The Sky. Avoid Shepard Madness unless you hate yourself. This one is good if you get bored by repetitive sounds because it has variation, but not enough to really distract you.
2. www.noisli.com Has a bunch of different nature sounds that you can combine.
3. coffitivity.com The sound of people chattering in a cafe. This isn’t my personal favorite, but many people find it boosts their productivity.
4. rainymood.com Exactly what it sounds like. Just rain and thunder.
5. ambient-mixer.com This site has tracks mixed by users that recreate certain atmospheres. The most popular ones are Harry Potter-themed, such as Ravenclaw Common Room and Hogwarts Library. I’m including it because it has a bunch of Doctor Who atmospheres and I’m a nerd; depending on which one you choose, it may actually be too distracting for studying.
6. horrorli.fps.hu I am not recommending this one for studying, but I found it when I was looking through the ambient noise sites and I thought it was interesting. If you ever feel the need to write a horror novel, this might be a good background.
