See the Dawn
Please place your giant heart, sorrowful glances and tensed fists into my hands to cradle until you find safety to unclench.
You can let go, though not because you deserve what has been inflicted on you.
Release the responsibility to carry a whole home square on your strong frame.
Your strength has been taken for granted; slowly, consistently, more added to your bale.
A gradually growing covenant on which one half piles without thought, while the other silently gathers alone.
Those shoulders shake in silence, in the dark, believing they deserve merely weight without the twin of acknowledgment.
I watch in horror, fear your light continues to dim, accepting more and more darkness to cope.
Serrations sharpened over time cut inward, where joy, love and consideration given could just as easily reignite.
Rest here with me. Know that I am steadfast.
If things were different, they'd be different. I offer a gentle challenge with this inquiry;
Does your body agree that you've accepted this fate? A soft 'no' is uttered by the exhaustion that engulfs your night.
I would will it to be so that you'll find a second wind, this time for your shackled will.
Put that magical mind to use for your own freedom and peace. Absorb some of what you emit for others.
I'll embrace the heavy heart, drape myself over the weeping frame and gently study the scars until they meet the sun.
Praying to the Earth Mother that they do, in fact, see the dawn.
