Mountain Hawk-Eagle (Nisaetus nipalensis) After three distant encounters around Karuizawa, I finally had a close encounter with the long-admired “king of the forest”. When its wings are spread, its size is about the height of a human. I etched into my memory its majestic, large-scale flight as it soared through the deep mountains. I am also deeply grateful to the local expert who kindly shared tips for observation.

クマタカ 軽井沢周辺でこれまで3度、遠くすれ違っていた憧れの「森の王者」に、ついにじっくりと対面。 その大きさは、翼を広げると人間の背丈ほど。奥山を舞う悠然たる大スケールの飛翔を、目に焼きつけてきました。 観察のコツを丁寧に教えて頂いた地元のベテランの方にも、とてもお世話になりました。
