Cats donāt have as strong a thirst drive as most mammals as they naturally derive most of their water from prey. Cats fed a wet diet will drink very little water, and cats fed a dry diet will drink water, but usually not like. Enough. To stay hydrated.

So cats definitely DO drink water but a lot of domestic cats donāt drink nearly as much as they should because theyāre typically justā¦not that interested in how people usually present their water dish.

Also sometimes cats wonāt drink water thatās placed directly next to food. Iāve heard a theory that itās an embedded primal instinct to avoid water that could be contaminated by carrion
