Challenge Day #4. This piece is titled "Butterfly Queen" Watercolor on paper #8x10 inches. It is a portrait of musician and actress Erykah Badu. I just find her very inspiring and interesting. She is a great subject and in here, I have captured her as a butterfly queen. This piece is colorful and playful. Challenge day #3 . This piece is titled “Orekelewa” meaning paragon of beauty in Yoruba. It’s a semi abstract portrait of a lady in gele. I did an under painting in acrylic and then a thick impasto painting in oil using a palette knife. I embellished this with a lot of mark making as a symbol of tribal marks which signify the variety of tribes we have in Nigeria. Day 2 of the challenge to post 10 pieces of my art . Thanks Vaughn Filmore for the nomination. So this painting is titled “I Know” . It was done in the same day as the painting I posted yesterday. Painted from the same live model in @craigzart Craig Nelson’s quick studies class at the Academy of Art University @academy_of_art . It’s a 20minute pose where Craig once again set the timer and we got to practice how to make quick creative decisions and focus on what’s important. The canvas is 22x28 and was previously covered in neutral gray acrylic paint before the painting was done. I totally enjoyed doing this and learnt so much from Craig’s class . He is an amazing artist and teacher. Challenge Accepted. Thanks Vaughn Filmore for nominating me to post a painting a day for 10 days. This is day 1. The title of this piece is “I Think” , it was done in Craig Nelson s quick study class where I learnt the athleticism of art and how to make quick choices in little time by painting what’s important or what needs emphasis. This painting was done in 20 minutes from a live model in class. I prepped the background with a neutral gray acrylic color a day before and set out all my oil paints 🎨 on the palette first. Model was in position and Craig set the timer and the race to the finish began...... voila ..... this is what I produced. The painting is 22x28 inches and is available via moi!
