closeups and details under the cut bc I’m gonna ramble
originally when I started this I told myself I was gonna just free hand everything and try to draw it on the hoodie before embroidering it. then the more I studied the actual pattern the more I realized that was just. a really dumb idea
so I shifted gears after getting my basic guideline done and looked into embroidery paper. from there I just traced over the pattern
(thank you collectors edition box someone sent with my figure on ebay🫶)
and from there I just printed the designs onto the paper and started aligning them around my guidelines.
easily my least favorite part had to be the middle section. bc god damn. there were so many small sections to embroider.
*ignore the wet spot I was too impatient to let the fabric dry before taking a photo💀
originally my time to embroider each row was around 30 minutes and some simple math led to a whopping ~15 hours for the middle section alone and that was daunting in and of itself. but I buckled down (and had long car trips this summer with my parents which gave me lots of time to work on this lol) and got it done. eventually.
compared to the middle the wings were super easy and super fast (but not really.) I was able to get one side done in bursts over a couple days.
the other side went smoothly as well, but I had some lineup issues which really bother me but I won’t point them out in order to not spoil the illusion of both sides being equal to each other 😭
but yeah!! super proud of how it turned out and I’ve never embroidered something this size before so it’s been cool to watch the pattern slowly materialize on the back. idk if I would do this again because it really was 3 months of work and if I had to do the middle section again I’d probably just give up💀or ask my friend to borrow her heat press and just make it out of vinyl but whatever. go my homemade merch🕊️
