Wall of Eyes Recording Session Photos
Sam Petts-Davies has uploaded a set of great photos from the Wall of Eyes sessions. I'll upload the two brief videos in another post.
I will break down the photos soon. There's a lot to go through but some interesting details.
Again, remember that Sam produced and engineered this one and has ideas of his own. I'm sure some things differ from the way Nigel may have done them.

Via Instagram, a photo of Nigel in his studio (you can see the corner of the Dalcon console and his well-known AKG binaural microphone head). What you can also see is an EMS Synthi and a 3M tape machine.
Producer David Wrench, who occasionally works in Nigel’s studio, sheds more light on this particular 3M machine, saying it previously lived in the Rolling Stones mobile rig and may have been used to record a number of classic records. (Also: look at the poster in each photo - it’s the same machine and location in both photos.)
Probably not surprising that Nigel would own such storied equipment.
It should be noted that I have not yet identified the speaker mounted in the wall.
OCTOBER 2018 EDIT:
We now know this is Strong Room Studios No. 2 and those mains belong to the studio. This also makes more sense considering that Nigel, in the past, has mentioned how the mains (large mounted speakers) in control rooms don’t “relate to anything.”
Excellent interview from Dead Wax with Justin Meldal Johnsen. This was two years ago but includes a lot about the recording of Mutations, Sea Change, how the main Beck crew operated and plenty on Nigel's mindset. Will transcribe the relevant bits soon.

Joey Waronker's home studio
Joey (from Ultraista, Beck, etc) recently sold his home and the listing had photos of his home studio. A lot of parallels with Nigel, some of it undoubtedly influenced by Nigel.
Acoustic Energy AE1 speakers, along with Tannoy Gold monitors.
57 on the snare, facing straight across (not angled). AKG C12As on the toms, Coles 4038 as center mono overhead.
Gear wise, stuff that is similar to Nigel: UA 176 compressor, Roland Space Echo, Deltalab Effectron delay, API 550As, plus what looks like Sunset Sound (Demedio-modded API) 500 series preamps, Yamaha subkick, CMV 573 mic, R124 compressor and of course a pair of black UREI 1176s.
Stuff that's unique to Joey here: Chandler TG preamp channels, two pairs of Quad Eight modules, a pair of different Quad Eight 333 modules, Eventide Harmonizer H3000, Master Room XL-310, AEA R84 ribbon mic over the "Fibes" kit, Ampex MX-10 or MX-35 mixer, ACME Motown MTP-66 preamp, Auditronics console, pair of Neve 1073 modules, UAD interfaces and a Beyer M130/M160 set up in M/S configuration.
The new Idles record, TANGK, is out.
Some shots of Idles at Nigel's studio. You can see the Soyuz SU-017 with "Room" labeled on its side, the M49 as an overhead (just like the Ultraista session), 57 on the snare, Coles as L/R overheards, RE-20 on kick, C12As on the toms, U47 and 414 in the room (could just be around or for vocals), most likely a U67 on one of the amps. Nothing you haven't seen before from Nigel and From the Basement.
The Studer is on and presumably recording.
Note that the Coles overheads are raised relative to the cymbals and the cymbal height and angle (thus, the overheads are not necessarily even with each other).
The Moog modular, Prophet 5, plenty of guitars and some other things that I'll identify later.
In the video, you can see the Tannoy Gold monitors on top of the API 2488, a little bit of the 1081s, BX-10. You can hear Nigel say, "I can tune this as well," in case you were ever wondering if he tunes stuff (every engineer ends up tuning stuff...).
It's cool to see the whole open expanse of the space. There's not much obvious acoustical treatment, just curtains.

Nothing super new: Ocean Way Studio B, 47 and C12 on vocals, Ampex ATR-102 as the mixdown medium, C24 as a stereo overhead over Joey's small kit (no tom mics, only looks like a snare mic and probably kick) and a picture of Justin Meldal-Johnsen with a Neve 33609 (and, though grainy, what might be a Sansamp PSA 1).
All most likely recorded through the Dalcon console.
EDIT: Thanks to a kind user who pointed out that it's a C24, not C12 over Joey's kit.
