Nico lay on the floor of his room, staring up at the ceiling. After everything that had happened recently, he just needed some time to turn off his brain and not think about anything. The door was open just a crack, so his siblings would know he was alive at least, and then had some music playing on the stereo to vibe with.

Life was just too much right now. He needed a time-out. A break.

“Oh man, I don’t even know. I smoked and I ate . . . I don’t remember if that had weed in it though. I think it did,” Nico said with a loopy grin. “I’m definitely feeling that nothing matters vibe. No matter what I do it never turns out the way I want it! My sister died and both girls I liked ended up with someone else.” He heaved a giant sigh. “I’m made to love yet never be loved, I guess.” He knew he was loved of course, but not in that way. The way that he was realizing he kinda wanted. But only with specific people, apparently. Not just anyone.

"Oh! I got some left. Here!" Nico said, digging into his pocket and pulling out a loose joint. He blew pocket lint off of it before holding it out to Art with a grin. "You can join me in the sky. It's much better up here, man. Nobody can fucking touch me." He started waving his hands again to the music.

”Dude, they’re playing so many retro songs it’s awesome,” Nico said with a grin. “I haven’t heard a lot of these songs since the big storm paradox thing. It reminds me of a better time, you know? I’m just a kid and life is a NIGHTMARE!” he called out along with the next song that was playing. “Man, my life is really a nightmare right now, lemme tell you.” He draped his arms around Reid’s shoulders. “You want me to tell you? Cuz I’ll tell you if you want me to tell you. I’mma tell you.”

Nico was still reeling a bit from the news Jessie had dropped on him, and he wasn’t paying attention as he walked and he bumped shoulders with someone, knocking him off balance. He caught himself before he fell, and turned to apologize, his mouth going dry as he saw it was Josie.

“Oh. Hi. Um. Are you okay? I didn’t hurt the baby, did I?” He looked at her stomach to avoid looking at her face.

Nico was still drunk as he stumbled into the Commune, knocking over the coat stand by the door. “Shhh,” he scolded it as it crashed against the floor, pressing his finger against his lips. It wasn’t quite sundown, but he also didn’t want his parents to hear him scold him for showing up drunk yet again.

Instead, though, he saw Xander, and his eyes widened. “Xan, Xan, listen,” he said, wrapping his arm around his brother’s shoulders and pulling him in close. “Listeeeen. Okay? You gotta listen. Okay? Okay.”He nodded sagely.

“That was good, right?” Nico asked, glancing over at Jessie from where he’d collapsed beside her on the bed. He always did his best to make sex enjoyable for all parties, and he was pretty damn good at it if he did say so himself, but he was mildly tipsy at the moment and didn’t know if that had affected his performance.

“Noah. Hey, hey Noah. Noaaaaaah,” Nico called, attempting to get the bartender’s attention. He’d been drinking most of the afternoon at the bar and was solidly drunk by this point. He grinned as the bartender finally took notice of him. “You have beautiful eyes.”
