It’s been hot and humid here in Chicago, I’m hoping if I look at these wintry pics of this American holly holder, I’ll get a bit of a metaphysical blast of polar vortex air 🌬 Maybe? 🤷‍♀️ I can at least pretend, right? 😄

Another buckeye burp grip holder. I don’t have any more of the honey locus that I used on the tail of this one right now, but I thought I’d share it anyway since people were curious about the buckeye on the last holder I shared. This piece is a bit on the darker side with a few more brown patches. I never really know what going to pop out of it when I start carving 😄

Figured walnut is apparently popular and in season these days. This holder is from a little bit ago, but now I’ve got two more in progress. They were the last I had stock of, I guess it’s time to go wood shopping 😍😄

I may not be able to embed the big chunky glitter anymore, but I can definitely still do fancy staining 😻 I carved this holder from a piece of lovely flamed maple and then added a transparent color stain over top for a unique tone, and to make those ripples pop. It’s seeming pretty likely I’ll have some time in July to make some readymade holders. I think some colorful ones like this will probably be in the mix 🙊

One of the ripples of no longer using CA for a sealer and top coat on my holders is that I’ll have to figure out if there’s another way for me to do glitter finishing 🤔 Playing with glitter is fun, I think I may still be able to do the really really fine micro glitters, but the big chunky ones may no longer be an option 🤷‍♀️. This American holly holder has a subtle, transparent micro glitter on the body that’s only visible when it catches the light just right 🤩

This curly redwood is from a little bit ago. It’s got a nice subtle wave to it and I really like the grain. I’m pretty sure I’ve got quite a bit more of it, so thinking I might put it on the list to make a readymade holder from. Redwood is always so pretty 😍
