My ted talk. It was vital to the flicker era that sh video was NOT released and we got the mv we did with clips of Niall the musician. It was emblematic of the diy and fresh, slightly flying by the seat of his pants and making it up as he went along, quality that made the era so special. I would not trade it for the world even if Niall got a proper mv he liked.

I’m the as a virgo to a virgo and about a virgo anon (I love this btw ahah) I find it so wild that people skip songs when listening to an album. The way the tracklist goes is the only way.

listen....i agree in theory that the tracklist created by the artist is The Order to really listen to an album, BUUUUT flicker’s tracklist is SO. BAD.
OTL is a decent start to the album, but the way that it’s got all the singles stacked at the beginning, then the slow ones stacked after that, and the upbeat ones relegated to the bonus tracks at the end....just terrible. why was The Tide, a song that SCREAMS opener, put as the last track? why was This Town, a song that came out over a year before the album was released, track 3 and not a bonus track? why does there seem to be no real rhyme or reason to the order of the tracks as they move from heartbreak to hoe to heartbreak to comfort and back to heartbreak over and over again? it makes no sense and it doesn’t flow!!

One of the big, endearing takeaways from promo so far is how much he really wasn't expecting to be successful with Flicker. We sort of knew from things he has said and those long tweets, but it seems to be a bigger deal in his head than I realized.
oh my god, i kNOW? i keep thinking about that because it really does speak so much to him, not just as an artist, but as a person? the idea that he went into that album knowing that those songs might not be the biggest or perform the best, but that was ok because they were authentically HIM and they were exactly what he needed to say and exactly what he wanted to sound like as he introduced himself to the world as Niall Horan: Solo Artist, that says SO MUCH about the belief he had in his vision and passion he had for that entire project.
so i can only imagine what it must have been like for him to invest so much of himself into that project, release it into the world, and have it get a response that was bigger than he ever would have expected? even putting in all the work he did, especially with slow hands, getting returns on it like THAT (aka a #1 in top 40 radio)? especially when it feels like such a crapshoot when it comes to what catches on and what doesn’t these days? to have put so much of himself into those songs and that album, it must have made it feel that much more rewarding and special for him to see it do as well as it did, beyond what he had even let himself imagine :’/
