#nfc shield

I already ran the getting started tutorial one time. However I was not sure about which pins are really needed. So here you can see the NFC Shield connected with individual jumper wire cables.  The SPI interface / ICSP header is connected GND GND and 5V Pins 9 10 11 12 are connected So how do you read that out of the datasheet: Let's take a look at pin 12 for example (the orange one): Arduino's reference states: Pin 12 is for MISO The Schematic tells us: MISO is on pin 13 (they start to count from 1 thus you need to translate the 13 into 12) Errata: Pin 13 also should have been connected for SCK. This is not the case in the pictures above.

Tested the soldered NFC shield stacked on top of an Arduino board connected via USB on a Mac 10.9.2 environment with Arduino IDE. Based on info in NFC Shield V2.0 Wiki additional PN532 Library is needed. Import it via the IDE use example code from github user 5v3n / seeedstudio and of you go reading memory blocks from NFC cards...

Soldering the nfc shield (bottom) to the shield headers. As described in the tutorial I posted earlier we used the Arduino as a Jig. We soldered the end pins - removed the Arduino and soldered the remaining pins. 

Many Arduino shields are shipped with headers packed loose, leaving it up to you to solder them in place. Sounds easy, right? Actually, it's more fiddly...
