Chapter 2

“Hey Kylian, I saw you on the news yesterday during the interview. You looked really distracted. Anything up?”

The young french player shook his head despite knowing his friend couldn’t really see him as he answered in the negative. “No man,” he said, trying to sound as casual as possible. “Just worrying about the next game is all.”

“Oh,” came Neymar’s voice. And wasn’t that ‘I’m concerned about you but I don’t want to sound overbearing’ Neymar tone. Kylian would have snorted if it  wouldn’t have given him away. His friend was sounding more and more like their captain and he didn’t even realize it. “You would tell me if something was bothering you right?” the Brazilian’s words fell heavy on his shoulders, because he knew he was lying through his teeth to him, and there was no taking it back after it was said and done.

“Of course,” he forced out. “I wouldn’t lie to you dude.”

Checking behind him at the packed luggage behind him he met Presnel’s unimpressed glare. 

“What?” he mouthed at him in exasperation.

“You’re a filthy liar,” Pres hissed back, throwing his favorite pairs of shoes not so gently into his bag. “A filthy liar and a stalker.”

“Stop calling me that,” Kylian frowned. “It’s not true.”

“What’s not true?”

Mbappe startled. He’d momentarily forgotten the other player was on the phone. “Oh nothing,” he hurried to say. “See you when I see you.”

“Sure,” Neymar said, voice sounding much brighter and happier now. “Good luck on your next match Kyky.”

Kylian hummed softly. “Yeah, you too.” ‘And be careful around that Countinho guy,’ he’d wanted to add, but he refrained from doing so, because apparently; according to Pres, he was Ney’s best friend or something so he had to tread carefully for now. 

“Bye,” the Brazilian said. “Don’t do anything I wouldn’t.”

“That leaves a lot of leeway,” Kylian retorted. 

Neymar snorted at that, which was quickly followed by the beeping sound of the phone call ending. Staring at the phone for a second longer, Kylian shook his head slightly, a tiny smile curling at the corner, before throwing the device on the bed and getting back to the packing.

“This is all kinds of wrong,” Pres said, zipping up his bag.

“Nothing is wrong if you think of it as right,” Kylian replied with a shrug stepping away from their bags and picking up their passports from the nightstand next to his friend’s bed. “Ready to go to Brazil Pres?”

Presnel glared at him. “Whatever. What could possibly go wrong right?”

Neymar & Coutinho: Couts is ney’s best friend that he always expects to back him no matter what stupid thing he is about to do. Ex: Arguing with the ref after getting carded. Coutinho always goes (despite looking pained and not wanting to) to argue along side his idiot best friend whenever he gets a yellow, aaaand almost end up carded as well. Essentially do or die friends

Neymar & Mbappe: Kylian is ney’s little brother whom he tries to be better for. Time and time again when he goes to pick a fight, he always seems back down, when Kylian tries to calm him down and drag him away from starting a conflict with the ref. He tries to protect Kylian the best he can, by toning done his petty behaviour. Essentially you make me better person type of relationship.

Neymar & Messi: Messi no doubt takes the older brother position for neymar. He is the one ney idolizes and looks up to. And neymar always tries his best not to disappoint him. He learns from leo, he adores him, and he believes everything leo messi does is magic (which it is). Essentially ‘my big brother is the best in the whole world’ type of friendship.

Neymar & Thiago: Thiago is like a father figure to ney. He basically backs him up in everything, gets disappointed with him when he does irrational things, and is the first to praise him when he’s being amazing. Plus ney tends to bully Thiago around, never listens to him 90% of the time, and still expects unconditional love from him (which he always gets). Essentially thiago is the rock ney can lean on when the going gets tough.
