Elise flickered her long raven black hair off her shoulder. She reached her hand out for the glass in front of her. She wasnât supposed to be sitting at the Slytherins table. She was a Hufflepuff. A half-blood. She does not and do not stand a chance becoming friends with any of them but she did. Elise Addams did. Albus Sirius Potter sat in front of her and beside Scorpius Malfoy, Draco Malfoyâs son. Elise often kept Scorpius company during his hour of need and the memory of his motherâs death.
The black haired witchâs thought started to pace in her mind but she was able to control the dizziness. âScorpius?â Elise arched an eyebrow as he lifted his fork towards his mouth.
The bleach blonde rolled his eyes. âYouâre not my mother!â
âBut I am your friend, Scorpius.â The black haired witch voiced out. âYou canât just keep things from me.â
Scorpius glanced over at Albusâ plate of food. âYou know⌠For a Hufflepuff, you are awfully determined.â
Elise shook her head in disagreement before immediately dismissing herself off the table. The young witch strolled down the Great Hall, pondering about why Scorpius reacted the way that he did. Elise placed a finger on her temples. She wasnât herself. She was burned out. Did she do it to herself? Thatâs always the case for Elise Addams.
With her head down, she felt her legs starting quiver like jelly. Eliseâs didnât agree with her. Her entire body leaned forwards and towards the floor. Her arms caught the grasp of another.
âAre you okay?â A voice called out to her. âEliseâŚ? Are you okay?â It was the voice of an American. An Ilvermornian student. Of course, it was The Triwizards. Students from all over the world is in Scotland for the entire year. âElise? Are you okay, dude?â The Ilvermorny student reached their hand towards her face. She was a little off color. âElise?! Someone help!â He called out for her hand as Professors and a couple of students came running towards them.
âOh my goodness! Thatâs Elise Addams?! Is she okay?â Lily Luna asked.
âDoes she look okay to you?â Scorpius huffed.
Lily Luna rolled her eyes. She felt need to protect her fellow Hogwarts student. âShe looks pale, Scorpius. And she still has to compete at the Triwizards tonight.â
Albus softly sighed. âWhat can we do to help out? Scorpius and I could do something to get some color back into her.â
âWhat?!â
âCome on. Weâve got to help a classmate out sometime.â
Scorpius growled but quickly nodded his head. âFine. Fine but just this once, Potter!â
âThank you!â He said as he grabbed Scorpiusâ arm before leaving the Great Hall.
Lily Luna shook her head in disbelief. âHey,â she said, turning her head towards the Ilvermorny student beneath her. âThanks for catching Elise. Iâm Lily Luna. Lily Luna Potter. But my friends calls me, Lily.â
âJoseph.â The Ilvermorny student responded. âJoseph Gwyndor. Nice to meet you.â

This oneshot is super intriguing and very mysterious. There's not a lot of detail in the plot - it lets the reader use their own imagination more I think. Rose has a very interesting personality in this fic, and Scorpius is written very differently than most other fics I've read. I definitely like it. There's not much outward romance in the fic, which I like as well.
It certainly leaves you thinking and wondering what Rose Weasley was really like and what happened to her.
I know you're mostly Jily, but do you (or any of your followers) have any good ScorpiusxRose fanfics? I just read "Take the Plunge"(which was great) and I obsessed with this pairing right now. Any recommendations are appreciated! Thanks!
YES!
I love some good Scorose fics!
Till Marriage Do Us Part is my absolute favorite Scorose fic. Itâs the first I ever read of the pairing and I started shipping them immediately after I read it.
Erase Me Before I Fall is another favorite oneshot by a great author.
Gossip In The Library is excellent if you like smut.
Letters To Rose is my favorite in-progress fic. Itâs perfection.
How to Win A Bet and Inappropriate Behaviour are two are good one shots as well.
The author asked me to read & review this one! Yay for next-gen!
There are a few things I really like about this fic. I really like how the author addresses the fact that Scorpius is a Malfoy, and that the name Malfoy likely came with a great deal of baggage after the war. I mean, the Malfoys were so involved in what happened, and thatâs not something the wizarding world is going to forget overnight. That couldnât have been easy for Draco, and later, his son, to deal with. In the very first scene we see a discussion in History of Magic about the war, and a student calls out Scorpiusâ family as having a very heavy hand in what happened.
I really like that - because many next gen fics glaze over that aspect of Scorpiusâ life. I also like that the author draws the parallel between Scorpius and how his familyâs legacy hangs over him and how Rose faces a similar baggage from her family - except for being on the winning side except the losing one. I like the idea that Scorpius and Rose might have bonded over that and trusted each other because their parents might not have approved and because they really shouldnât have been friends. So I appreciate that a lot.
I really loved when Scorpius explains it to Rose as âOne half of Hogwarts thinks I am too much of the Death Eater and the other half is sure I am not enough of one.â I really like that. For some reason, that description just works so well.
That being said, Iâd like to see a little more variety in Scorpiusâ character. As with a lot of next gen fics, Scorpius is basically Draco. Iâd like to see some things in his character that make him different from his father. Obviously we might see a lot of similarity, because they are father and son, but itâs highly unlikely that they would have been quite that similar.
Also, Rose and Scorpius became friends very quickly, and Iâd have liked to see a little more development there. Would she really have trusted him completely that fast? Would he have? Perhaps. It doesnât matter, as long as the author sells me on it. And I wasnât completely sold.
The story could use some editing as well. Iâd love to see it cleaned up a little in terms of grammar and punctuation. Have I mentioned how much help a good beta can be? Only a few times⌠:)
Overall, I really appreciate the authorâs insight into how the next gen kids might have been affected by the war. Awesome effort!
I received this fic as a submission. I received just the link, with nothing else, so I'm not sure if the submitter is also the author and she wanted a review or not, but I imagine yes, so here we go!
This appears to be the first chapter of a Rose/Scorpius fic. I don't know for sure what year it's set in, though they seem to be a bit older. There's some Quidditch action in the first chapter, which I always enjoy. I totally think Rose would play Quidditch...I'm not really sure I buy Scorpius as a Quidditch player, but there is literally no canon basis for that, which is what makes Next Gen so exciting.
I like Rose's personality--it fits my head canon for her. Rose and Scorpius are written a lot like James and Lily often are, though. It's often disappointing when authors write these two couples, who I imagine are VERY different, as basically the same. (Rose is a bit of an uptight, academic prude, and Scorpius is a bit of a player, charming, and constantly trying to get Rose to go out with him).
However, this is just the first chapter of this fic--only time will tell if the author has different characterization in mind.
The author could also use a beta, for sure. I noticed some inconsistencies with punctuation and grammar that could easily be cleared up with the help of a good beta. The errors are definitely easy to fix.Â
The fic definitely has potential. I really love Scorose as a pairing and would love to see the author do something great with them.

K is on a SERIOUS fic roll today, and I must say, I LOVE her interpretation of Scorose. I mean, there is NO CANON BASIS at all for their relationship, and she does wonders with this. A lot of authors write them like they write Ron and Hermione and, not that there's anything wrong with that, I like that she writes them more like partners in crime. She's not an uptight, rule-abiding prude, she's a witty troublemaker who follows in her father's footsteps.Â
This is a really nicely structured story by the always lovely Holly. If you aren't already, you should be following her! I have included her personal blog and her marauder's era fic blog above for your viewing pleasure. This story is one of her older pieces and doesn't feel quite as polished as her more recent stuff, but it's still an excellent interpretation of Scorpius and Rose's relationship. I like that each chapter shows them in a different point in their lives (Hogwarts, post, etc). Most fics are either during Hogwarts are after, and this one jumps around, which I like.
