#newts!

Was talking with roommate yesterday about a small local ski area neither of us ever went to as kids…which turned into getting up stupid early to hike it today. Wet & muggy as shit BUT got to leave an alltrails review with a 91 newt count babyyy

I found a bunch of newts while digging out some new ponds for them! We thought they'd all died when the ponds dried out a couple of weeks ago but they've been hiding in the grass. Better get this little one out of the way before somebody accidentally bisects the poor thing with a shovel.

This is, to me at least, very much a comfort food show. There may or may not be a larger story slow-brewing, but basically it's a series of done in one episodes. The protagonist is an adventurer who does exactly what the show says on the label: sidequests. Occasionally there will be mentions of a Big Bad and a Prophesied Chosen One, but our hero would rather worry about the small stuff and let someone else take on that challenge. It's a charming, fun show. Tal Minear gets a lot of credit as producer, sound designer, and the voice of Rion (the protagonist). It's nice to dip my toes into this world and go on a nonadventure with Rion after a stressful day. 5 out of 5, add it to your list.

This year they're pretty stunted - the mix of very early and dry heat wave followed by repeated cold snaps has fucked over a lot of British plant life this year.
