When Iām writing Newsies fics sometimes the hardest part is finding headlines to put in so Iād like to share some a couple things!Ā
The first isĀ this linkĀ itās the library of congressā archive of American newspapers 1777-1963. Itās very handy. You can sort by state, year, and even by which newspapers articles were published in! You can also search for key words or phrases. All of the articles about the actual strike are on there and you can also just see what else was happening at the time. I usually use this to find headlines to include in fics haha!
The second thing I wanted to share is all the headlines that are in papers from UKsies! I got Crutchieās cast paper and the Seize the DayĀ āNew Newsies Priceā paper. Iām just going to include headlines on the post, but if you want to know more about any of them or want the full article just message me and Iād be happy to send it :)

Washington Star Building, Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Ā Washington, DC, 1974.
I think the doomed newspaper had already abandoned this building for space in an industrial district near the SE Freeway. The paper went bankrupt and ceased publication in 1981 in the first great wave of newspaper consolidations and closures which left many cities with but a single paper. That is essentially true of Washington, though the last I checked the lunatic-fringe right-wing (Moonie) Washington Timeswas still publishing. Although I was once a compulsive newspaper reader, now I read the āpapersā on the web and rarely look at news racks to see what is for sale in the dead tree format.
