cj met "shana" on fb when he was 17 (she was supposedly 21) and after an 8 yr Idr w/o ever meeting in person, he finally had the chance to meet her irl, thanks to catfish, only to discover shana was actually named rebecca, 38 yrs old w 5 kids... meaning she was 30 when she first spoke to him online :/ i wonder if she was married too tho *coughs*
anyway, rebecca then created a second fake profile named destiny, claiming to be shana's friend, and messaged cj that shana had passed away, causing the shana pg to vanish entirely… only to resurface in his fb friend suggestions 2 yrs later o.O AHAHSHSH. cj had already been seeing a new gal since shana "died" and broke up w her to reconnect w shana smh. poor bloke really only wanted his shana ig lol and lost 8 yrs for nothing

many of us can detect a fake pg on social media from a mile away, yetttt it's crucial to remember that a lot of young ppl, whether active online or not, can't, and may unwittingly fall into someone's trap :(
granted, not all online relationships are harmful or had a bad ending ♡ but it’s jst as important to acknowledge the risks and exercise caution
gals ’n guys, never meet up w someone you met online alone. idc if you’re 18 or 40, take a friend as your shadow, or at least tell someone you trust. love should never cancel out common sense :( i’m saying this w sm love bc you never truly know someone 100% or their intentions- even if they aren’t a catfish, ppl you meet online are always diff in person iykyk
i hope they’ve both healed tho. rebecca clearly had her issues, but ig coming clean was a huge step towards change *clapping*
