you slipped through my fingers like sand,

Like i was never meant to hold you.

Like a story i was forced to bleed to write

I walk the trail, my heart gone stale. His sun-kissed skin—he overlooks me, I'm forgotten. I pick wildflowers, making a bouquet for no one. My eyes still wide, I'm stunned.

His eyes a pretty, calm blue. The cycle continues, I'm nothing new. I feel I was a burden, now taking up a place in his mind. I'm trying to stay together, I'm trying to be kind.
