Never Alone (3) ~ Bangchan
Part 1 Part 2 Part 3
ꨄ︎ Synopsis: You're in the big city to finally see your first skz concert, and after you run into Bangchan, who is staying in the very same hotel as you, he invites you to spend time with him in his hotel room after the show. The next morning, in search for the man you met, you end up unexpectedly finding him in a very unlikely place.
ꨄ︎ Word count: 2.1k
ꨄ︎ Genres: Romance, fluff (that's it I guess lololol)
ꨄ︎ A little writer's note: Oh my god this part was a struggle to get through, and I'm not sure I can exactly tell you why! It's so cute though, so I hope at least some of you love that haha! However, please note that it is currently the middle of the night and this is horribly proof read!! School ended recently and I've been trying my best to work on my hobbies and whatnot, but even my summer is going to be super packed with activities, things I must remain consistent with as well as goals for me to complete. I'm not entirely happy with this part, as it was all written randomly and over the span of several months, but I can promise that the next one will be super duper great! I just wanted to include a little thanks for my tiny taglist for your support of my work! It means a whole bunch!! If you have any ideas, requests, comments or suggestions for me, feel free to comment or send me an ask!! I hope you like the third part of my first series more than I did writing it and enjoyyyy<3
You thought you had been dreaming.
When you awoke to the sound of somebody’s hotel room door shutting and feet padding down the hall outside your room, you couldn’t seem to exit the haze flowing through your mind, eliminating all thought.
It took a couple moments for you to gather your sanity and get your bearings before you realized how insane the previous night had truly been. You sat straight up in your bed and smacked your hand over your mouth in utter shock, before accidentally letting out a wail of despair.
“You know, I think the stays would love to see you in that shirt.”
“I’m just an innocent little fangirl!”
“Most of the world would pay to have your perfect little nose pores, Chan.”
“Oh, what the hell was I even thinking?” you exclaimed to nobody in particular, the exasperation practically wafting off you.
Instead of continuing to wallow in self-pity in bed, you promptly dragged yourself out from the mound of blankets and pillows you resided beneath and resumed feeling sorry for yourself while brushing your teeth.
“Wow,” you deadpanned, looking into the bathroom mirror. “Less than ten hours ago, I absolutely butchered myself in front of my biggest idol.” Nice going, Y/N. Wonderful job.
You splashed freezing water onto your face and let it wash down the drain, along with any more thoughts of how badly you messed up in front of Bangchan, and changed into a simple yet flattering outfit to wander the city and hotel in. The weather app on your phone let you know that the sun was planning on making an appearance for most of the day, so you took advantage of the skirt you just so happened to pack.
On the way down to breakfast, half of your mind wished to run into Chan, while the other half hoped you’d be safe and alone, away from the embarrassments of the previous night.
Your eyes couldn’t help but search for him in the maze of tables, chairs and people, but your common sense quickly reminded you that an idol like him wouldn’t be eating a free hotel breakfast in the middle of a largely populated city full of many who had the potential to recognize him.
The free buffet held various breads, yogurt, assorted fruits and those muffins that always seemed to taste more like cake than anything you would eat in the morning. There were eggs, waffles, pancakes, and many beverage options, but nothing seemed to interest you, as your stomach was churning, nerves ever prominent, still hoping to run into Chan.
You gave up on the free breakfast and sauntered out of the dining area and back into the lobby. A coffee and pastry from a cafe sounded nicer than whatever the hotel had in stock, so you planned to instead wander through the streets to find just what you were looking for…though your feet seemed to have other plans, walking you in the direction of the hotel’s gym.
Fuck. You pushed the glass door open, barely believing the lengths you were going to in order to see Chan once more, revealing weights, treadmills, bikes and other workout equipment. You did a swift check of the room, hoping to find the man you were looking for, but only spotted a couple middle-aged women on the stairmasters, chatting it up next to each other.
Trudging back to the lobby, you told yourself you were being stupidly unreasonable. Chan wasn’t just some stranger you had met the night prior. He was world renowned and famous and everything that you weren’t. He was most likely out somewhere in the city, filming footage for his job, or maybe he had already flown back to Korea. His life had all been pre-planned and that plan didn’t account for random girls he met in hotels.
That’s the way it was. And you could maybe try to be okay with that.
So, you blew out the breath you didn’t realize you were holding and marched out the front doors of the hotel and out into the city.
Miniso.
That’s where you decided to go, because what better place to go to make you happy, than an entire store loaded with blindboxes, makeup, decor and every remotely adorable item to ever exist?
The plushie shelf was the first place you hit, browsing through collections of countless characters from every possible animated franchise, and you could feel your mood brightening. You picked up a small Cinnamoroll plush holding a pastel cupcake and grinned. There wasn’t really much more you could have asked for. You saw your favorite artist live, met your biggest idol and now were spending time in the Miniso of a gigantic city! That sadly didn’t stop you from longing for Chan.
Even just a glimpse of him would be enough.
At that moment, your phone which sat in the very bottom of your purse decided to buzz. You fished it out, and almost combusted while reading the notification.
JYPBUBBLE
11:24AM: 크리스 sent a message.
Fingers flying frantically across the screen, you opened up the app like your life depended on it and read the message.
크리스: I had so much fun at last night’s concert
크리스: STAY looked so cute
크리스: ㅋㅋㅋ
크리스: STAY is asking me about the Wolfchan I threw into the crowd
Your heart stopped.
크리스: A very pretty STAY caught it hahahahah
크리스: Wait, am I allowed to say that?? Let’s hope so
크리스: Anyways, I’m out relaxing now
크리스 Sent an image.
Your face broke into a grin the second the picture came in. It was Chan, the gorgeous glasses he had found last night still perched on his nose and a smirk upon his lips. There was a hint of smokey makeup dusted atop and under his eyes and ever so slight highlighter in the corners of his delicate eyelids. The hood of his sweater had been pulled up over his head, leaving a bit of room for blonde strands to poke through, but concealed him just a bit from the public. The sight itself caused your heart to stop momentarily. Then you noticed.
In the background, there was a large shelf, filled with small pastel objects that upon zooming in further, you realized were…plushies.
As the butterflies in your stomach intensified, you looked to your right, hoping immensely that what you wished to see would be right before your eyes.
And there he was.
Even more stunning than in the picture, there was Chan, typing away on his phone and blissfully unaware that you were so invested in, well…him. You blew out a breath and quietly walked over to the one person you hadn’t been able to stop thinking about since the previous night.
You pretended to be eyeing up the stuffed animals near the spot where he was standing and cleared your throat.
Chan turned to face you. “Y/N?”
You feigned surprise. “Oh, hi Chan!” You smiled at him. “Nice glasses.”
He reached up, touching the frames ever so slightly with his fingertips and blushed, while you clutched the phone in your hand with an iron grip to prevent yourself from doing the very same.
“How are you?” you asked. Wow, so creative, Y/N.
“Better now,” he answered, before his eyes widened at his own statement. “I-I mean, I’m fine,” he corrected. “Did you see my…”
“Picture?” I filled in.
“Yeah. That.”
You smirked. “Don’t worry, I’m not that obsessed. I didn’t track you or figure out where you were, if that’s what you’re wondering.” Yeah right, Y/N. Maybe you didn’t stalk Chan’s bubble to get to the store, but judging by how you had spent the earlier part of your morning, you might have been a little bit more obsessed than you thought. “I was here before I got the notification.”
“No!” Chan exclaimed. “That’s not what I was implying at all. I swear!” He held up his hands in surrender. “I’d never deem somebody as a stalker without…proof. And besides, you don’t seem like the type anyways.”
“Thanks,” you deadpanned, earning a laugh from him.
The two of you began to roam the aisles of Miniso without hesitating to show the other an item you’d found, and it was only after the fifth (maybe sixth??) time you pointed towards a Sanrio item that Chan stopped in his tracks and crossed his arms.
Your first thought was to panic. Am I being too annoying? Oh God, I’m probably being so frustrating! But when he turned around to face you with a playful glint in his eye, you realized there wasn’t much to worry over.
“That’s it,” Chan declared, yanking the makeup pouch from your hands. “I’m buying you something.”
“W-what?” You froze. “Chan you really don’t have to—”
“No, Y/N, I want to.” He grinned. “Pick anything and I’ll buy it. It’s for being such good company last night.”
“Oh, I was just being nice, Chan—”
He shut you up instantly, by grabbing your wrist with his large yet gentle hand, and dragging you off toward the blindbox section, causing your lips to slightly curl upwards, your affection for this man only growing stronger.
“But this one is so you!”
Chan was holding up a Smiski box (the work series one haha) and you couldn’t help but point out his resemblance to the one holding the laptop and gazing into the screen like a man in love, because it was in fact the most Bangchan thing you’d seen in the store.
“Are you sure?” he asked, frowning at the box.
“Positive,” you confirmed.
You both remained quiet for a moment or two, before you broke the silence. “I mean, hey, you could find one that you think looks like me…”
“Don’t have to tell me twice,” Chan said, giggling playfully (you know, like the signature gnab laugh thing), so he set to work searching the shelves for the perfect figure.
You admired him as he browsed, watching everything from the beautifully crafted muscles in his biceps, to his perfectly charming nose, and realized that no matter how attractive his features could be—and boy, were they attractive—you couldn’t deny how gorgeously generous, selfless and sweet he was as a human. He made you feel special and loved and appreciated, when he could have easily been filming content or working on music instead of spending time with you. Your heart ached a little as you remembered how important his career was to him. Sure, you wouldn’t have been there in that moment without Stray Kids, but you didn’t want them to take Chan away just yet.
You wanted him all to yourself, more than you could ever admit.
“This one,” Chan turned around, clutching a box slightly larger than the Smiski one, and you identified it as a Sanrio product. His finger was pointing towards a My Melody printed onto the box, who was wearing a shiny purple dress and clutching a similar colored bag. “My Melody Rose Party,” he read.
“That’s me?” you asked.
“Totally,” Chan answered, nodding. Suddenly he gasped, eyes widening. “Before you protest, I’m gonna buy them both, and we can trade them for keepsakes! Y’know, so I don’t forget you.”
You wanted to cry.
“Chan, you’re not leaving today, right?” you asked, dreading his answer.
“No, of course not!” he exclaimed. “I’d have told you first thing. I’ll be here with the members for two more days, I think…” He frowned in thought. “We might have to film some things tomorrow, but I swear I’m free the rest of the day.” His effort made you grin. “Give me your phone.”
You reached into your bag and pulled out the device, before handing it to him.
“Mind if I add my number?” There was a soft smile toying with his lips, similar to the one you were sporting.
Your mouth dropped open. “I—I, go ahead,” you choked out.
He giggled once more. “Now I can annoy you all I want.”
As the two of you walked back to your hotel together, you clutched the Smiski you’d pulled from the box in your hand. It wasn’t the one with the laptop, but instead, the little green figure was holding up its thumb in approval (Smiski approving). That was the fun of blindboxes; you never knew what awaited you inside. However, much to your enjoyment, Chan had his brand new rose party My Melody hidden somewhere inside of his pocket, a little reminder of the girl he’d just begun to fall for.
He bit back a grin, attempting to keep himself from becoming giddier by the moment. God, you looked adorable with the figure in your hand.
Later in your room, as you flipped through the random movies on your TV, the phone still left in your bag buzzed with a notification.
Unknown number: What do you say I take you on a date tomorrow, yeah?
