Eclipses
There's a partial eclipse over most of Britain tomorrow. Now, you might be wondering, how do we here at Network Rail prepare the railways for an eclipse? The answer is, we don't do anything. Because we don't need to. Why would we? The trains can run in darkness, and besides, it's a partial eclipse, it won't even be that dark. Absolutely nothing unusual is being done to the railways in preparation for the eclipse. There will be no service disruptions at all, no special schedules, no additional precautions, nothing. Just the same as normal. We don't do anything special for eclipses. We don't even look at them. Because you shouldn't look directly at the sun, it'll damage your eyes. And we here at Network Rail like having eyes, and would like to continue having eyes, but there are no special precautions we need to take during an eclipse to ensure this. None whatsoever. The railways always looked like that. You must be seeing things. Maybe you shouldn't have looked directly at the eclipse.
