This book deserves the Michelin star of books. What a beautifully written tale! A tale that the YA shelves definitely needs! Masood writes a generous spectrum of Muslim characters from the very serious, intense, and devoted to the more relaxed characters (e.g. Sohrab vs. Intezar). Moreover, I like how he portrays and includes this dynamic interpretation of what it means to be Muslim not just in the friend group but within families as well (e.g. Sohrab vs. Kaval). Personally, I liked Intezar's character because I felt I related to him the most. He didn't fit in with the non-Muslims because he was Muslim, but he didn't fit in with the Muslims either because he wasn't considered Muslim enough, or a good Muslim. I especially liked how Masood expressed this through the simple decision of picking a lunch table. The MSA would have made space, but they would have also judged them. I felt the same way at both my high school and university, and often still do when socializing in a setting where there are others from my faith. Finally, I normally do not read historical reads, however, Masood embeds history into this story artfully. There were many relatable, moments in this book for me and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Insert all the heart eye emojis because I loved this book.

Now that I'm not a teen, YA is definitely my guilty pleasure. It's romance guilty pleasure but a little lighter. A real escape from adulting reality. That being said, Kanter still manages to fit quite a bit of life into this one, college applications, losing loved ones, identity struggles, and so much more.

After reading Tweet Cute, I didn't think I could find another YA book to love in 2020 yet here we are. Books, Cupcakes, Twitter, Blogs, and a touch of Baseball, all rolled into a YA romance. My heart is so content. I miss young romance.

I think the young adults of today’s generation will really enjoy this book. It’s current, it’s fun, it’s emotional, it’s so good.

If you like stories that incorporate messages, notes, tweets you will also love this book!

As soon as I finished reading this book I texted all my YA friends exclaiming that I had just finished another amazing book. This book made me want to scream about books.

I remember my first ARC, and later my first collaboration with an author I love, all thanks to a tweet. I remember my blog finally gaining followers and likes. Nothing beats that feeling and finding a book that articulates that is so unreal.

I highly recommend this to all my fellow YA readers and booknerds. This is another not to be missed 2020 read!

I finished reading The Honey Don’t List by Christina Lauren and In Five Years by Rebecca Serle this week thanks to NetGalley! Just started reading What I like About You by Marisa Kanter and I’m already in love!

What are you reading these days? What are your 2020 reading goals?

What a delightful read! An unexpected story with heart, hope, and humour. I would love to have an ElderCare Companion like Annie.

Great quick and sweet read. I highly recommend it. The subtitle “suddenly single...and not quite ready to mingle” definitely does not do this story any justice. It is so much more than a typical love story. It shows us how Elissa learns to love herself, life, and everything around her.

I fell in love with Christina Lauren after reading Love and Other Words. At that time, I went on a bit of a Christina Lauren binge and read every book I could get my hands on. Since then, any Christina Lauren books automatically go on to my To-Read list. As such, I was super excited to be approved for this ARC from NetGalley and Simon & Schuster Canada.

This latest book, though very good, did not leave me feeling as satisfied as I felt after reading Love and Other Words. The book hangover was just not that same. Nonetheless, it's a great romance and I'm glad I read it despite having read some reviews that made me feel a little uneasy about starting. A lot of people compared it to the Netflix original "Set it up" and although sure, the main characters of the books are executives and their assistants, I find that the similarity otherwise stops there. The mood and journey of this book is completely different. If you continue reading beyond the first few chapters, you realize that this really is a story of its own.

I would definitely recommend this to anyone that enjoys romance, especially fans of Colleen Hoover, and I know I won't let this book stop me from continuing to read future books by this duo!
