The FCC in the United States has abandoned Net Neutrality. Websites such a Facebook and other social media sites routinely gather personal data. Privacy is becoming a thing of the past. In some countries such as China there exists massive internet censorship. Freedom of speech is non-existent and people can be sent to prison for talking about things the government doesn’t want talked about. Eventually I think this will result in a certain technological revolution. If communication is being trapped and filtered by governments, someone, sooner or later, will come up with a way of stopping this. Oh I know there are already pretty good encryption packages, VPN’s not bad and TOR can mask a good deal of internet traffic; but these solutions may be difficult to implement for the average user - and they can be expensive. So there’s an opportunity to make some money by coming up with a product that will prevent content snooping, prevent IP tracking, and, in general, provide a super level of security and privacy. If such a product didn’t cost too much, was easy to install, and guaranteed to be snoop-proof, then I think it would make someone a great deal of money.
