Don’t think about how livid Maeve would be once Rowan comes back ahead of Nox, Aelin and Sam to report everything during his time in Ardalan.

She forcibly probs his mind for anything he may be hiding, and boy is she a little more than livid now that she catches just all the little bits of emotions that have gone through his mind during those months over seas.

Of course she has him punished. Not because he’s failed her, he actually gave her plenty of information to go off of for when her niece comes to visit. He is being punished for having the audacity to get smitten with someone she’s seen in her visions as being a part of her demise, and for that, Rowan has to suffer a little bit to remind him just who he sworn to in the first place.

I may have imagined Maeve probing Rowan in his dreams to make him see Nox again or shifting into Nox herself to fuck with Rowan’s emotions even more. I can’t decide how much I want to get angry at myself lol.

But on a little bit of a softer note:

Nesryn and Lysandra going on evening walks every so often when Nes isn’t busy running underground or with city patrol duties.

It’s only ever just the two of them but it’s always pleasant to be together, even if Rifthold has its share of... unpleasantries.

But always too soon, they’re back at Clarisse’s place and they always seem to stall just to spend a little time with each other.

Lysandra, knowing she can’t delay too long because there are eyes that are everything, she goes to leave but stops short just to turn and give Nesryn a very quick kiss on the corner of her mouth before she rushes to leave.
